Morgan guys...

In my admittedly limited experience, it seems that in general, the reverses fare better than the obverses. They're usually much cleaner. Why is this? Or maybe I'm totally off base here...

It may have to do with there being more flat areas on the Obv than the reverse, so it's easier for em to get hit and scuffed, and the rev stuff hides small hits and scuffs... image

The reverses are protected more by the design. Not as many open spaces for marks. Busier design also leads to more areas for small hits to hide.

1878-CC reverses seem to be a couple grades lower than the obverse for smoe reason. I've seen a few like that. Not sure why they're like that.
