The buyer and seller are supposed to contact each other withen 3 days of the auction close. I did my part, but did not hear from the buyer. I am not sure what he is doing, but it is at the leastsuspect. He has listed a coin for sale, that he does not yet own. I want no part of this potential problem.

Man, now I've got Mark Feld, on me. Flaminio I am used to. I will not make a final decision on the Neg until day 7, Thursday. The whole Feedback system reminds me of the Kamakazee's in WWII. I bet they got a great 30 second rush.
In my defense, about a year ago, a fellow purchased a $5000 coin from me, and was going to wire the money to me. Though I had over 1000 positives, he still wanted an explanation of the negative. Not a big deal, and he did send the money, but each one does matter.
Finally, the questionable buyer is purchasing the coins Buy-it-now. A thousand negatives will not prevent him from doing that. Where is Ebay, they have been alerted?

Perhaps not. But, the negatives WILL warn others not to buy from him when/if he offers coins for sale that he hasn't paid for and thus doesn't even own!

True, so make sure to do the NPB/FVF procedure on him as well. It only takes three of those to get someone NARU'd.

Darn it Mark. As usual, you are correct. I did warn the purchaser 0f the listing in question. What steams me is that Ebay shirks all responsability in this matter, and expects the community to act for them (they have been notified of all this). That is fine, but when I get a retailiatory Neg, they will do nothing but steer me to Square Trade, where I will have to pony up $25 to TRY to get the mark removed.
This may require a call for SUPERLAURA and her Posse.
Mark - although I disagree with what the original purchaser did -
what you did was wrong as well - by relisting the coin 3 or 4 days apart, you have effectively sold the coin twice
if the first buyer sends money via PAYPAL (an eBay entity) you are under contract to complete the sale
if the second buyer pays as well you have sold the same coin twice
can you get another one in a hurry?
you may have placed your account in jeopardy
eBay is just happy with all the listing fees and final value fees
this guy will not be NARUD until next month on the 20th when he can't pay eBay fees or until he gets 3 NPB's which you cannot give for a few more days when you request your fees back for NPB
Sinin1, apparently the buyer has not responed to attempted communications from Mark. All the while he HAS found time to try to sell at least two coins which he has not paid for and which he doesn't own.
At this point, if a miracle does occur and the buyer sends payment, Mark can refund his money.
Does anybody know if ebay has a written policy or requirements for specific time frames for paying or communicating. I have spent several hours looking everywhere I can think of on ebay and cannot find any specific time frames. The only thing I could find was that a seller has to wait seven days to file an unpaid item dispute. I can't find anything saying that a buyer has to communicate with the seller in a specific number of days. These are points I've wondered about for some time. I once waited a full week before the buyer finally responded to my emails and it took three weeks to receive payment. Maybe I've overlooked the specific information, but it was not because I didn't try.

Coinguy1 is one of the most respected and thoughtful users on this forum. That is, at least, my personal opinion. And when Coinguy1 suggests you neg the guy, THEN YOU'VE GOTTA NEG THE GUY!
Seriously, it sounds like your conscience has been working on you which I'm glad to here. I'll admit, eBay is doing a pretty $%&@ job disciplining this guy. But in there defense, they really are just a vehicle for assisting users in selling miscellaneous items. It's up to eBay users (this means you) to police themselves.

A few months ago, I switched my auctions to private, as a number of underbidders were receiving fraudulent second chance offers. I stopped doing that, but the coin he won was a holdover relist. Nothing I can do to change it now.
Shamika, I feel like Ebay is using us as pawns in a chess game. It is their responsability to take care of obvious auction abuses. Now it will take me another hour on the phone, to get him Naru'd. But I will wager a silver Panda, that I am successful......
