Russ's Pics

Russ, I gotta tell you...your pics are awesome. I am studying them to hopefully learn how to tell not cam from cam from deep cam, and pf 69 from 70 etc.

CAM from DCAM is easy enough.

    69 from 70 is a different matter.

Ahh, not to worry- it takes a while sometimes.

You're in a good place for numismatic learning.

Shoot, I've been fiddlin' around with numismatics for 29 years now and I still learn somethin' new just about every time I log on here.

I think that telling a 69 from a 70 is largely a work of imagination...... image

  • Thanks so much for the words of encouragement. I've said it once, and I'll say it again-- I have learned more about coins in the few months I've been on this board than I had in my life up until I started hanging out here.

I wasn't gonna say that, but you're right. image

If you buy a 70, you're buyin' the holder. Period.

I actually use to feel this way until I bought a couple of PCGS PR70s and compared them to my 69s. There is a noticeable difference. While I've never taken a strong loop to the 70s, the 69s mostly have a small speck or light haze that you can see, whereas the 70s really do seem much more eye appealing.

Take it for what its worth, but I am a convert.

Now with that in mind, I wouldn't pay a huge difference in price for the 70, but with some the pops are getting high and the price is coming down.

    I've owned both.

Sure, there might be a microscopic difference sometimes.

Not worth the exponential price leap, to me, anyway.

There's nothin' wrong with buyin' the holder sometimes, as long as you know you're doin' it. image
