This is a cleaned AU dog. What a POS. For what it's worth the ANA will do very little for you unless you are a current member. And even in that case they usually don't do a heck of a lot.

There are honest dealers of raw coinage out there unlike this "gentleman" that is hard up for $100. I will not sell a Raw piece if it doesn't meet my standards as a buyer and if there is the least doubt in my mind I'll send extra just to make sure the buyer(s) gets NICE coins worth a lot more than paid for.
I stopped referring customers to him immediately after this went down and he showed his true colors. Negative word of mouth advertisement seems to "stick" a lot more than good word of mouth does. The $100 bucks is long gone but this negative publicity will be around for a long, long time.
Selling out for a $100 bucks is downright stupid. This person wouldn't qualify to clean my toilets let alone run the store with an attitude toward Customer Service such as his. That $100 has caused and will continue to cause him a lot of lost revenue. THAT classisies him as a FOOL in my book. (Not very bright!) AND HE LET MONSTERMAN DOWN IN A BIG WAY.
Out of all the coins I've sold I have only had 2 returned. It was a private transaction totally off eBay, with a fellow forum member here worth about $2700, involving PCGS coins that just were not to his liking. He's around and no doubt will read this and can attest to the fact that without so much as flinching I returned 100% of his money.
$100....what a joke. It still irks me for Ken's sake. Thinking about this guy made me remember, I'm late in cleaning my dogs' cages. Later....Man, that felt good!

I suggest everyone on this forum not buy from them until they publicly state that they WILL back coins up and take returns. E-Bay sellers that will not take return are exactly what you said.
I gladly tkae coins back, in fact jsut processed a retunr today. I describe them well and accurately. I get one return per 100 coins sold. I think a pretty good track record.
Write ANA then send the coin for grading and then stick it to them.
The ANA sometimes is painfully slow, sometimes. I filed numerous complaints against this one particular ANA Member-Dealer but in the end, having proven my "case", they watched him and like the old saying goes, "Gave him enough rope to hang himself" and he did (hang himself) and was expelled, not suspended, expelled from the ANA and just for the record, over a situation very much like this one. They have, however, no jurisdiction over a non member.
It's all outlined in the Charter and it's bylaws. Fraud (false advertising), not allowing for returns, not openly stating that a coin is cleaned, conduct unbecoming that of an ANA member-dealer....it's all in there.
Don't waste your time with eBay. I filed a claim once on a ebay seller called JEZJESK, who had multiple negs in a single month. They told me that they weren't taking any action against the guy !!! Then they had the nerve to email me and ask me if I was satisfied with the way they handled the issue !!! I tore into them, telling them that they only favor sellers (who line thier pockets with $) and could care less about buyers. I will never complain to them again. What a joke.
ANA Dealers Code of Ethics "...To frequently publish my statement of return privileges, which will allow my customers a designated period of time in which to return numismatic material for a refund, except bullion or bullion-related material and coins encapsulated and graded by a recognized certification service may not returned for a refund. Said period of time shall not be less than fifteen (15) days from my date of mailing or other transmittal of said material or not less than ten (10) days after my customer's receipt thereof or my attempted delivery thereof to my customer, whichever time period shall be earlier. If a customer submits a misdescribed or overgraded coin to a certification service for authentication or grading and notifies me of such submission within ten (10) days of my date of mailing or other delivery, I will continue to recognize his return privilege for thirty (30) days after my customer's receipt of said coin from me..."
Well, you see the catch here was the phrase "graded by PCGS, NGC or ANACS". As we all know, ANACS will grade any and everything, even a coin that's been cleaned. Then there are 2 other factors involved here...1) Time and 2) Expense to have it graded to prove a point that any Numismatist worth his salt can see is glaringly obvious. The seller misrepresented the coin and compromised his ethics OR showed that he has none over a coin that belongs in a cardboard flip in a dealer's bargain basket for $2.00. What could he possibly have been thinking?
If, as in this case, the buyer does indeed have the coin graded, it WILL NOT grade as advertised. OK, so the coin does get returned. Will the seller reimburse the buyer his grading and postage expenses in addition to his purchase price? The seller has inflicted irreparable damage to his own reputation, seriously jeopardized said "Name" for a mere $100 when he could have simply done the right thing from the jump and either NOT sell the coin at all or sell it as cleaned or AU, at best.
Listen, you can throw perfume all over a pile of manure but in the end the perfume wears off and you're still left with a pile of manure!
Maybe he was one of those wannabe dealers we've been hearing about (until I'm sick of hearing about them), and just could not make it in the coin business. If he refused to refund a $100 he must have been hurting for cash real bad.

Hold on, isn't reedededge a POWER SELLER!?! I'm thinking this NARU is temporary, being Ebay doesn't like to mess with power sellers. Wasn't there a thread recently on another power seller who was NARU'd, then got the account reinstated after something like 30 days?

When the coin arrive it was a badly cleaned hairlined circulated piece of junk. Definitely NOT as described but the seller refused to stand behind the coin as he promised in his auction."
You haven't mentioned his name or anything else that would be against ebay rules yet still gets the message across.
