This is obviously a scam since I know who owns the coin and tried to buy it from him...

When I see a buy it now price in the location (and for a small amout compared to the item) I KNOW it is a scam.

Can you give a little more information. Like is the seller not the person that owns the coin? Is it a stolen picture - or what? What should we beware of?

The owner of this coin lives in New York.

He was selling it on ebay about a month ago. This guy stole the auction pic.

It's obviously another hijacked account. Same MO as all the others - put an eMail address in the auction and solicit offers at a stupidly low price.

coinlieutenant if you know how to contact the real owner of the coin, Please contact him & tell him to file a picture & description report to eBay ASAP.

I tried finding his email from a previous deal, it was deleted and I couldnt find the link to contact him through ebay.

I will see if I have his number still.

I also contacted ebay about this auction as well as the high bidder. But for all I know he could be a shill.

I'm quite confident that the high bidders are not shills. Since the seller was willing to accept $3000 through BIN (I'm sure he'd take even less, since he is a scammer with no coin to deliver) he'd have no reason to have the item bid up to where it is now.

Damn! That's amazing. It's amazing because 99.9999% of the ebay viewers would have no clue that auction was a scam. One guy happened to know that coin - amazing. That's not the first time I've seen something like that happen on this forum - outstanding.
