Before I bought this coin, I was able to bring it home and compare it to at least four other Arkansas commems, side by side in identical lighting.
The luster was better on this coin than the other four and quite frankly I'm not a "marks" freak.....in other words luster and originality are more important to me than marks - unless the marks are obtrusive and on this coin they certainly were not.
It is impossible to take images of coins and have them capture all of the beauty and all of the beast of of a coin. Yes, you can see things on images that are real like marks but often times they are exaggerated in large images.
By the way, Brandon's photos are pretty good, aren't they? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know, I know. They're better than mine. But how do you know I didn't teach him?

Speaking of Arkansas, I was browsing through older posts and came across this one and wanted to add some of my own comments. I just recently purchased an Arkansas 1936-D PCGS MS66 from Brandon of Anaconda Rare Coins and simply put, it is a MONSTER! It has some of the most incredible toning on both sides and is an utter joy to look at. The coin itself blows away the images that were used to promote it and save for a very minor (and I mean minor) hit on the Chief's cheek, it is a lock 67 and possibly even a 68 (in my opinion). In fact, with the mind-boggling beautiful toning, I'm frankly surprised it wasn't bumped to a 67 for eye-appeal. I must say, Anaconda has a winner of an employee in Brandon and it is a pleasure to deal with him with his quality photos, top notch customer service, professional and informative information, and just the incredible color-toned coins they have to offer.
What a treat to get to see the same coin side by side with two different photographs under different lighting conditions. Thanks a bunch for sharing those with us.
<< <i>The 67 is the real deal..I have seen this coin and it is corrcetly graded in my opinion and it is not a "gift" 67..Someone said yesterday I believe on another thread (i think it was monsterman) that the real coins get the real grades and that Ark is the real deal...I know Iwog has some nice coins but the 67 smokes his 66, way more original looking too.. I respect Bruce's opinion here and tend to agree with him.
I collect Capped Bust series by variety in PCGS AU/MS grades.
<< <i>This way, however, doesn't make the miniscule marks look gargantuan as they do in the above picture.
If you haven't seen this coin in-hand, then you just don't understand it and no image is going to show in full glory what a coin like this truly looks like whether it's regarding eye appeal or technical grade. >>
Maybe so, but not worth crazy money IMO. I like 67s w/o miniscule marks.
