It's offical: I'm writing a book (sort of Press Release)

Hello everyone,
After 2 1/2 years of reading, learning, writing some articles, more reading and even more learning and writing, I decided to write my first book. I've long been thinking if I should do it, 'cause I'm only 16 years old, live in the Netherlands, and english is not my first languange (I think my second
). I haven't even visited the US yet (probably summer next year
)
But last weekend, I was sure. The introduction is now finished, with even more information in it than I expected... But that's nice isn't it???
Now on to the subject. Some of you know it already, but it's about Gobrecht Dollars. The complete title at this point is:
"Gobrecht Dollars: A complete guide to all dies, both originals and restrikes"
(Please note that the title may get changed)
Now I hear you guys asking, what will be covered?? Here are some things I like to do:
-Information about Silver Dollars in General
-Some information about the people involved at the time of the minting
-Minting processes
-Information on all originals and restrikes, when they were minted, when delivered etc...
And more.....
Biggest problem for me would be to find a publisher who want's to publish a book from a 16-17 year old from the Netherlands, but I'm sure I can find a solution for that
That's it for now. I will keep you guys informed how it goes
Comments are greatly appreciated,

Good luck with it, Dennis.
PS. I love visiting Amsterdam, although I always have to remember not to go to a coffee shop if I want a latte, and those windows with the red curtains are not the Chinese embassy.

<< <i>That's great. Maybe you should contact one of the big numismatic authors to get some pointers on how to approach the project, and how to get access to the coins themselves. Also, do you think you can self publish it?

I've contacted Dave Bowers, but I know he's very busy, so I let that rest for a while. Not sure about the publishing part yet....
I don't like Amsterdam, way too big. (I live on the countryside

I would email Q. David Bowers and get his thoughts. I bet he responds.
[edit: didn't see that you already did that.]
New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.
<< <i>Dennis, your parents must think you're hanging out with the "wrong crowd."
Good luck with it, Dennis.
They actually do think that sometimes. And with the wrong crowd they mean Americans

Great project!

American coin geeks!
Awesome !! Keep your focus and don't let 'down time' keep you from finishing what you started.
I expect a message when it's all done and ready for distribution. I want a signed copy for my Library
i will buy a signed copy
I'm sure it will be very enjoyable and FUN - altho lots of hard work. Keep extra copies and backups of your work as you go along.
By the way, I enjoyed getting to see the daffodils and crocuses in full bloom, but envy your soon getting to see the emergence of the tulips.
<< <i>Well, if you are looking for some inspiration may I suggest you take a visit to see the original writings of another 16 year old there in the Netherlands where you reside. Last Saturday I was in Amsterdam and had the opportunity to spend several hours at the Ann Frank House overlooking one of the canals. I was surprised that her original diaries are there on display and was humbled to learn she had the inspiration to spend the three months preceeding her arrest using her diaries as the source material for the draft manuscript of the book that she herself titled, "The Secret Annex" and which was originally published under that name.

Been there, done that. It's a great museum, and a good book which IMHO all people in the world should read.
