Any dealings with Great Southern Coins?

Has anyone brought from greatsoutherncoins on ebay? They have some listings up I might be interested in, but their feedback looks kinda shaky to me.
Who is General Failure, and why is he reading my hard drive?

Nope, not lately, none at all actually.

Here is an example of one of their "Rainbow" beauties:
<< <i>I spent over $200 on a 1934 Texas Comemorative Half Dollar that had writing on the obverse that was not stated in the ad or pic. The Morgan was advertised as a MS-65. At best it was an MS-62++/MS-63. I politley asked for a full refund and recieved three emails apologizing for the oversight on his part and to return for a full refund. So the coins had problems but he took them back for a full refund. I think he has a perfect record or close to it. At least he offered to refund, more than I can say about other dealers. Well just thought I should give you my two cents worth. Enjoy what remains of your day. >>
That seems to be the MO of many Ebay crapsters -- they make a killing on those that don't know any better, and for those 5% who figured out they got less than they paid for, they give no-hassle refunds to keep them quiet and keep thier reputation intact. Hell of a way to make a living.
I believe you are right. I have purchased coins that were described as original, never cleaned MS62/63. When I get the coin it is harshly cleaned, and at best an XF. When I email or phone the seller to report I am returning the coin the response is nearly always the same - "I didn't know - I'll refund your money including shipping right away".

<< <i> I won't buy from them again until their pictures better reflect what the coins actually look life in person.

Well, once the pictures reveal what the coins really look like, you still will not buy from them!!
<< <i>Update as of 3/22/05. Money for returned coin was refunded! I am not impressed with their pictures, but they happily refund money for dissastisfied customers and that makes for a reputable seller in my opinion. >>
It at least means they're not scam artists, anyway, at least if you know how to spot a problem coin and they're willing to accept a return.
I wonder about the angle at which they take pictures, because sometimes they don't look bad in the angle/lighting used. I'm looking for some nice VF/XF Seated Dimes, for example, and they have an 1845-O Dime in XF which doesn't look hideous from the picture (though I wonder about the bright spot in the right obverse field). Yet in the back of my mind I suspect this would look badly cleaned and otherwise messed with in hand. And this is a coin that is very much a condition rarity, quite rare in XF and above -- it goes from about $60 in Fine to $250 in VF to $700 in XF -- so there's a LOT of potential downside if the coin is net graded downward. Stuff like this, I suspect, I'd only buy sight-seen (with the coin in hand) or reputably slabbed. If this coin is truly a problem-free XF, it should be slabbed since a solid XF has triple the value of a VF. It's easy to hide problems with the right imaging setup.
These are the kinds of coins where treading into the world of raw coins on eBay is like entering the shark-infested waters.

Seems to be the same type of dealer.
