A dented edge in an otherwise MS-60 something coin: how does this effect the value of the coin? Silver Dollar by the way.

    You don't seem to have any answers for this one. I'd say that the coin graded at MS60 has possibly been reduced in grade because of the rim ding and other marks, weak strike, reduced luster etc.
    A minor rim ding doesn't hurt the grade much at all, but if they are deep or numerous, the grade will be reduced.
    Personally, a reverse rim ding is less bothersome to me than on the obverse.
    I wish others would chime in.

    My MS-67 2003-D Sac has a full gourgous obv rim ding that I hate. Gotta agree with you Rollerman.

    I avoid rim dings like the plague, so I'm really not sure how much they affect the grade. I assumed that pcgs would bodybag many rim-dinged coins....image
