Very cool Off Center Pattern - ANR auction

Is this like way too cool or what?!

The only thing I find disturbing is how can it be considered an error that 'got away' when it was a pattern?

Still i think it may be fun to own for under a few thousand. Any guesses where this one will end up?

This is one I never saw even when I was agressive on back of the book type of stuff.

    Way cool!

Thats pretty cool, but If I were going to drop that much on a pattern, I would want more showing...image

    RKKAY:

How you be so wrong already on your guess?

That off-center pattern is already at $7595.75 so more than half of your price range is already kaput!image

Just goes to show you how rare major error patterns are and how infrequently they trade. Any presale "estimate" on that piece is truly a wild ass guess. Very cool itemimage

    Final price was $17,000!

I was blown out at $9890.

  • So how can they prove the date?

It was the only year for that exact design.

I'm really, really surprised it went for that much. As cool as it is, I thought it was almost too unusual for its own good. I figured the error guys wouldn't chase it all that high, and that it would be interesting but not a must-have for the pattern guys.

Is this the complete set of off-center patterns?

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

That's a very nice pattern, and an even nicer error!!!

Also, this is the first off center pattern I ever saw, so they must be really RARE...image

    Congrats to the new buyer!!!image

What's really interesting is that many of these patterns have been socked away since 1940 or so. This sale was truly a rare opportunity to buy some very cool material.
