Mint State 1863 - 1867 San Francisco Dimes - Enjoy and Comments
For everyone enjoyment, here is a run of San Francisco Seated Dimes in Mint State. All are PCGS 64 except 1865-S which is PCGS 63 and the 1866-S which is NGC 63. The pic of the 1864-S is an old scan, while the rest are new digital images with my Nikon Coolpix 995. It has been a real pleasure assembling this group of seated dimes.

I am really fussy about the dimes I collect. This must have full heads.

The 1863-S dime is a real gem. The photography just cannot present the luster on this dime.

The head on that 65-s is exceptional. I was not sure if something like that was available in UNC. Good show.

Great 1866 dime, love the luster and toning. Let me guess, NGC MS67?

My 1860-O is in a PCGS VF30 holder. This date is so hard to find without problems, then the real high end examples are also out of my financial league. One must draw the line somewhere. I'd rather go after the S mints in nice mint state.

mintage 55o?!?

Definitely one set of proof dies used in 1862. Notice the die line in the upper shield crossing shield line 11-12? That is the diagnostic point marker for the die pair. Your dime looks more like a business strike from the photo. Yes, 1862 proof mintage is reported at 550.
A nice choice dime!
