  • This is Bruce's collection, isn't it? Mega congratulations. I loved looking at the catalog and the listings on the Heritage site. I would not get anything else done if I read all the catalogs that arrive before auctions, but the catalog of this collection will be treasured and reread forever.

At one time, I was on my way for a top Commem set, but then It dawned on me

that the cost would be above my means. While such coins are magnificent, the prices

today seem only for the "Rich and Famous".image

I think that the prices achieved for this magnificent set, show what a decerning and

focused collector can accomplish, both achievement wise and financially. WELL DONE!

  • E, I guess i will trust your math for a different twist thought i would share what coins surprised me from a "wow" that a nice return on investment...conneticut in 67 for 6200..gettysburgh in 68 great coin but i paid a lot for it went for 42.5k..a great colorful long island in67..19k roanoke for 40k, that one did wow me..and a nice york for 6k in 68.. alot of other fairly high powered commems went for expected and certainly alot of money quite a few for more than the above mentioned but from a pure return standpoint these really did great... i loved doing these commems i started with a all white 65 set and jumped off from there..i would say commems are definately alive and movin up....

    Bruce:

    1. Outstanding

    2. What tips can you give us for how you collected such a collection. For example, where did you get them all? Were they crack outs?

    3. What was your cost basis?

Bruce is one very low key/modest guy.

Many of his coins were absolutely spectacular, quality-wise and in terms of sheer beauty. And, in most cases, they certainly brought prices to match (or better).

I will always have a special place in my heart and memory for that MS68 Lexington, however.

    Congratulations Bruce!

Congratulations on a fine set, Bruce. I had my heart set on the Lexington or the Panama Pacific. Unfortunately, that kind of price is out of my range. I will have to putt along with my 15th ranked set. The 50-piece commem set seems to have a lot a competition. I remember when my set was one of the only two submitted. The Registry has come a long way.
  • Thanks for all the nice remarks..I am proud of the set..Rob the registry has gone far..I can recall when i first saw your set listed..plenty of folks listed now.. and i can remember looking at the photo's you posted in the set as well..I liked the York and Alabama..both real frosty but both with just a bit of color as i recall..i think the bama had some toning on the tail feathers..thought that was cool...

Got close on 2 of them.
I hope my MS65.50 set can go #1 someday!
    Congratulations Bruce!!!!
