Seeing that eagle reminds me of an old Popeye "Thanksgiving" cartoon where he's a pilgrim who spares a turkey's life then gets captured by Indians only to have that same turkey save his life. Where am I going with this? Well in order for that turkey to save Popeye's life, the turkey had to eat spinach. As soon as it did, the turkey transformed into an eagle-like bird poised just like the reverse of the SAE coin complete with the words "E PLURIBUS UNIUM" surrounding it.

They just don't make cartoons like that anymore.

I may be showing my age, but I remember that cartoon!
I don't currently own any, but I think Eagle proofs are some of the most beautiful coins minted right now.
Question: Do bullion coins have to adhere to the law stating no design changes for 25 years?
You know, I love this design but hmmm....where I have I seen it before...hmmm....oh yeah! Walkers!
I just really don't like re-using old designs even if they are good! We have some of the best artists in the world in thid country and I think it is a shame to EVER recycle a design! I know it was done in the past as well, but I'm just rantin' and ravin'....
I would just like to see something different on all the eagles.
And the topic should not be a politically correct thing like the SBA or SAC dollar either.
I don't think recycled things are a good thing either, I would not mind seeing a run of designs based on the designs from the 1790's since those are coins most people can't own the original of but would like to have said design.
Collection under construction: VG Barber Quarters & Halves
I just recently purchased the total 2 Pound Britannia set....What an awesome set of coins...Each odd year is a different design, the even years are the same....

I think it would be interesting as they have had the same design for 20 years now.....

I'm guessing not, as the platinum proofs change design every year. But maybe they're special.
25 years seems long enough. That would make for a new design in 2011.
Her British cousin is pretty cool too:
