What do you assume about a coin in a legit, "untampered with" PCGS holder?

  • huh?

I assume its authentic and (for MS) within a point of what I'm expecting for the grade.

I don't assume anything. PCGS has messed up many things just like anyone else.

I intentionally left this question wide-open. Sorry.... do you assume it's "authentic", for example?

I assume that it will have a blue or green label and sometimes yellow.

I assume its genuine & authentic. I assume its been graded by someone who knows more about grading than me. I assume I know the range of time in which it was graded because of the good work Condor101 has done. Thats about all I can think of that I take for granted by virtue of its imprisonment in a PCGS slab.

I assume somebody want too much for it just because of the holder its in.

It's 1) Authentic, 2) reasonably accurately graded, and 3) there are no significant problems that aren't apparent at first glance (such as a light cleaning or expert repair)
