How about reducing the size of your sig line images?

I block stuff at my router. That way I'm guaranteed not to see certain stuff. I guess some browsers have the capibility as well. I think the first time I blocked an image was of that icon with the toothless dude with the pony tails attached. Talk about Routers 101, that image made me sick so I figured out how to get rid of it.
  • Yes. I went way overboard. Sorry.

(But this issue really, really annoys me to no end -- and the solution is just so damn simple.)

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

  • Lets ban all sig. line photos. They are annoying!
  • Geez, this isn't exactly the place to come to learn how to win friends and influence people! image

Another possible work around for this "problem" is to increase the size of your browsers cache. These sig line images and avitars should get cached and not be downloaded as often.

Do you have a solution for people who hate Firefox?????
Because Firefox does not work well with Mac!!
  • There's a way to set your browser to not load any pictures. Just adjust this setting before entering the coin forum!

Another idea is to increase the screen size. I have mine set to the max. because I like a lot of room on my monitor. It makes the pics and the font really small, but you'll get used to it. I don't know if that makes the pics faster to upload due to the lower resolution???

Either way, I have DSL... it all loads up fine.

Considering that both of his current sig line images exceed the forum guidlines I doubt he's in any position to 'help' unless you're needing the definition of a hypocrit.

Since moving to a rural area last November, I have been stuck with horrifically slow dialup at home. imageimage

Got excited when we heard that high-speed was available out of Waynesville, to the west of us. We ain't that far away from there. Found out that you could get their service if you were within 8 miles of there.

We're ten miles from there. image

So I have a little more sympathy for the folks who're stuck with Fred Flintstone Internet connections now.

I agree that too-tall, too-large sig pics are inconsiderate, and some animations can be annoying (but not Liberator's shattering Shield nickel).

I sure would hate to see us lose the sig line picture privilege like we lost the unlimited custom icon uploading capability, thanks to a few trolls who were making inappropriate icons.

I do like to keep a little pic in my sig line sometimes, but I hope it is within discreet size limits. (Hey, it loads here on this fargin' dialup connection, albeit slowly- sometimes the tiny little smiley emoticons take a sec to load on my puter!)

This is why I do most of my surfing here from work these days, on T-1.

<< <i>I would also like to see the girlie pics and the stupid sigs (for example, that one about masturbation) go away.

Some of us check the forum during the day at work, and it doesn't look good if someone happens to be walking by and sees that stuff image

Personally, I prefer links in the sig line (like mine). Most of us have seen each other's sigs hundreds or thousands or times already. If I'm interested, I'll click on it to check it out. >>

I am in total agreement with you, Barry. I understand how some folks want to make a unique impression when they post. However, we all need to remember/realize that others may be viewing the forum in a work enviornment while on break, or a family shared home computer etc. and many of the these items really are not proper in those (and other) enviornments.

As for the large coin pics, the current guidelines are pretty generous and I wouldn't think anyone would violate them, as a result.

  • ibzman350's sig pic is a nice size - not too small, not too large and you can see it - it's not 'in your face' like most of the other sig pics in this thread - especially ER, kryptonitecomics, (no offense) and the weasel animals - and altho the angel baby is cute - it could also be reduced - sorry, I have 12 grandchilden - how would you like all of those in your face if i posted to a thread twenty times - over and over and over . . . get it? It becomes obnoxious (not the angel baby, but all the other ones - over and over and over.) For God's sakes - save the trees, it is boring as hail - and not to mention - does waste ink.

Also, alot of people, not those, have really tasteless, and classless sig pics. Well it just shows you who they are. I think one small icon pic is kewl - but all this big stuff is for the birds - who needs it anyway? Flame away.

For your info, I already reduced my sig pic size twice already. If it's still " in your face", too bad!image What if someone tells you the content of your sig line offends them, and the revolving ribbon annoys them? You're gonna take them out?image

After you have been posting here you come to realize that the non-coin related photos that take a long time to load are actually a good thing. The value of the content in those posts that is worth reading is directly related to the amount of non-coin photos and other unrelated crap in the sig line. Saves me a lot of time reading posts that aren't worth it. Imagine if everyone here violated the rules and the spirit of the forum and loaded up their posts with crap. As others have pointed out in other threads some of us are more special than others. image

Some people have taken this to mean they can have 10 pictures as long as they don't exceed 400x200, 20K in any ONE of them. Wrong! It means total, not each as far as I'm concerned. The people who string 5 or 6 or more pictures together just don't care about the problems dialup users are experiencing, they are more concerned about their own personal billboards.

This adblock add-on is terrific (and very cathartic). Now, who has all those pesky New England Patriot photos? I want to go zap them!
  • I just popped in to read my flames - I knew I would offend a couple folks, but sorry didn't mean to - just my opinion tho, which I am entitled too. I think my revolving ribbon is not only very tiny, but also a forum icon - therefore appropriate in size.
  • BaleyBaley Posts: 22,663 ✭✭✭✭✭
In my opinion, people who make giant sig line pictures that appear at the end of all their posts are being inconsiderate.

I also don't like the few giant author icons that somehow exist.

the moving, flashing kind of either picture bugs me too but it's simple enough to click "stop" up in my tool bar and the motion freezes.

Look I hate chat rooms, signature lines, long lines, all photos, nicknames, and coins prior to 1958 or after 1959.

I love long walks in the rain, the feel of sand between my feet, and coins dated 1958 or 1959 and no mintmarks

    definitely no MINTMARKS.

Is there anyone that feels this way also???
