Question to Kennedy Collectors.

This is geared more toward the people that actively pursue Kennedy halves as one of their favorite coins.

How did you come to the decision to collect Kennedies? I in no way mean to sound disparaging of the series, in fact I think they are kind of neat looking ( i especially like the reverse) But it seems a lot of people are magnetically drawn to it, and I'd like to know some of the main reasons. I know everyone is different, some like Morgans, some like Seated coinage, etc......i guess I'm just curious to know what it is about Kennedies that really drives people.

Russ is right. I love the series because I valued them as a kid. Not only did they have real spending power, but they had the presidential seal on the reverse. My grandfather kept a bunch of 64's in a cigar box in the wardrobe. HE valued them. I value them.

IMHO, the JFK Half is one of the 10 most attractive coin designs in US coinage. So there.....image

  • I still see them in change.
  • I wanted to create a set of shinny coins that would keep the robbers busy and away from my barbers.
  • I like half dollars in general, especially walkers and kennedys. I got drawn to them at first by looking through rolls of them from the bank for silver ones and I'm now pursuing a collection of proofs.

    Don't knock 'em.

Kennedy halves are an important "stepping stone" toward the Barber halves! image

Always looking for original, better date VF20-VF35 Barber quarters and halves, and a quality beer.
