    thanks all. the union jack on the upper right of the reverse is a bit unnecessary from a design point of you... but it's still neat, hearkening to the whole colonial atmosphere of the time.

    I can only imagine what one of these things would've looked like when freshly minted! Yum.

    You're right about the Union Jack, it annoyed me too, it looks like a counterstamp . Regarding the condition, it looks pretty close to what it was like when it was minted. Except for the colour, which I guess was red.

    I've always thought that, too. While it's kinda neat, it throws off the symmetry of the design.
