IMO those are the real thing. Looks like the typical mint set toned 55. Kinda looks like this one only bluer.

OK, some guys have toned in who's opinion i think i can trust. i own the coin in an NGC MS65 holder and assumed it was NT, my desire is to cross it to PCGS for inclusion in my Modern Circ Set which i'm slowly adding some personality to. an in holder cross is how i had planned to go, but here's the question:

do you think the color has stabalized or will it darken?? while the color is intense and quite lovely it tends to the dark side on the obverse, especially. i'd rather it stay the same instead of continueong. any suggestions or prior experience?? BTW, the grade really isn't as important as the stability of the coins surface and color.

    thanks.

Natural in my view and sweet! Far be it from me, however, to suggest stability ...

Well, I can offer one similar example. I had a nice blue with reddish tinted reverse 41 Mercury that PSGS did slab a few years back. Sadly over the last couple of years it has darkened, in fact the obverse is such a deep blue that at first glance almost looks black. FWIW, the reverse hasn't changed much at all with only the outer rim getting a darker blue.

It has been kind of a disappointment to me but that's only one example. Your milage may vary. image

No way to know with any degree of certainty. I'd recommend an Intercept Shield holder for it if you're concerned that the toning might be unstable.

I think that George is cold. Throw a blanket over him.

I've been able to get just a few of his rejects to upgrade my set.
  • Very Nice.... Me Likes.....
  • You know, the blues have also been associated with tone in the music world - mostly from proper tube amps or Jeff Beck... Personally, I prefer brighter coins but this is a beauty and I hope it doesn't inspire a song one day from darkening too much. image
