    Ask Andy Lustig (MrEureka).

European auctions are a great source. In addition, try Wade Hinderling in NY and Richard Margolis in NJ.

How modern? I have a couple of "French connections" I can tap for post-1960 stuff. Also, my entire post-1920 French collection is for sale. image

When I need something special, I go to CGB. I am pleased with their service.

Does anyone know a specialist in early French medals?

I've been looking for a particular medal issued by Louis XII for some time, and I can't even find any info on it from reference books. The only reference I have to work from is a description in a letter of Jean Calvin to the Duchess of Ferrara.

I knew I never shoulda shown you British collectors what nice coins really look like imageimage

I figure I could trust Shiro and Sylvestius - buy how do ya trust a dead king ?? I mean GEEEEEEZ !! Oh well - I suppose it's in the interest of the advancement of the hobby image

As already mentioned, CGB is a great source - not only for the coins but for information as well. You can get quite an education just cruising their completed auctions. CGB But be ready - stuff aint cheap. Buying French coins in France can be expensive !

You can always check with Josh ( Civitas ) as well - he has a few nice ones right now image And NEN - they always seem to have a few available. Steinbergs, Goldberg - any of the known world gold dealers always have a few. And try San Joaquin Valley Rare Coins - talk to Charles. You can also try this gentleman - Tony Fein.

Just remember - epsecially you oh dead one - you guys gotta make sure I don't want 'em first image
