I thought of this one too late. Maybe someone else can champion it since I have already picked: 1795 half in VG. Lists for a lowly $675 on CDN yet typically trades for around $1000-1200. If they update the CDN at some point, you're up 48% to start.
Sorry for the delay in responding. Haven't been keeping current with the forum lately. The 2005 winner was announced in a separate thread. In retrospect, looks like that made it harder to find. Here is the link for the announcement on the 2005 winner:
The Top 5 finishers together with their coin selections; the Jan. 1, 2005 beginning prices; the Dec. 31, 2005 ending prices and the percentage increase are as follows:
Morgannut2, if you will PM me I will make arrangments for the shipment of your prize and will heep praises on your coin investing guru status. BTW...when Morgannut2 submitted the 1895-S choice last year, he said it was his 2nd best choice, and he didn't want to reveal his top choice since he was still shopping for it! I hope he will share with us what his top pick was, so we can see if it performed as well as his 2nd choice....which still won!!!!

3 contests.
3 different winners!
How interesting that the increases get spread around.
I did notice that year 2 had a lot of HUGE increases for all the top players.
