Off-topic: Tsunami aid from the Collectors Universe forums?

The death toll has now risen to nearly 77,000. I've heard 100,000 or more is not only likely, it is expected.

I know that MadMarty and others here have been posting, bidding, and donating to get $$ to the Boom Collector's club, and I don't want to step on toes.

But I'm going to be making a donation to one of the main relief organizations, AmeriCares, to help the victims. AmeriCares has already mobilized to help the victims of this tragedy. They have a very solid reputation, they have extremely low overhead, they've got a 4-Star rating from Charity Navigator. Their mission statement:

AmeriCares is a disaster relief and humanitarian aid organization which provides immediate response to emergency medical needs and supports long-term humanitarian assistance programs, for all people around the world, irrespective of race, creed or political persuasion. AmeriCares solicits donations of medicines, medical supplies and other relief materials from U.S. and international manufacturers, and delivers them quickly and efficiently to indigenous health care and welfare professionals in 137 countries around the world.

There is a field at the end of their online Tsunami Relief donation screen where you can enter additional comments. I think it would be pretty cool if we could get a few additional donors from the CU/PCGS forums to help, and who will enter "CU Forum Donation" or words to that effect in this additional comments screen.

Deductions are tax-deductible. It is the end of the year, and I'm pretty sure your donations made this week can count on 2004 taxes. Something to think about.

I'm starting with $50. Can I get an "Amen" and someone to match my fifty?
