What is special about this 1921-D Morgan?

I don't see the cause for such spirited bidding on this MS-60 Morgan. What am I missing?

we have to wait for the vam specialists....looks like a couple of interesting die cracks on the rev.

Doesn't ANACS put the Vam # on their holder? Or, if you don't pay the extra $6, you don't get it?

The image isn't large enough for me to tell which VAM it is, but obviously some people who are much more into the 21-D varieties have spotted something.

Yep, if you don't pay the extra fee you don't get a VAM attribution.

Wow, you've got me. I "wrote the book" on 21-D die varieities ( http://www.rjrc.com/fun_with_1921.htm ) and I see absolutely nothing... I looked at this coin when it was posted and looked again now. Maybe TT just entered the wrong minimum (400 instead of 40?). Wish they showed number of bids like ebay.

It's even cleaned. I wouldn't pay $40 for that coin, let alone $400.

Don't know...I had checked the coin and passed as well.

    No vam we know of.

I dunno, but it looks exactly like the coins ALL my non numismatic friends got passed from deceased grandfather and they want to know how much it is worth. Two Cheeseburgers, some fries and a medium drink I usually telll them.

I'd speculate a couple of collectors believe this one will grade out at MS65 or even MS66 with PCGS or NGC and thus the spirited bidding.

I think it went unsold, and the $400 was a typo reserve. Supposed to be $40??

Anyway, both the coin before and after it are showing up as sold, (at reasonable prices), while the 21D is still "pending".

It went unsold at the minimum of $400... somebody made a mistake entering the starting bid. 400 instead of 4.00?
