<< <i>Dog, (and others) I have SpyBot, AdAware SE, and Bazooka ( this is a program for some hardened spyware, which can only be removed manually, but it is a good detector.) and the only one I found that traced AND cleaned is SpywareBegone (www.spywarebegone.com) You have to buy the full version in order to clean, but the free version will find everything on your 'puter. Best damned $30 I EVER spent on software!!!!! It was the ONLY one that found a spyware and CLEANED it that spybot, Adaware, and even Bazooka could not find nor clean. IMHO, this is the spyware killer primo!!!!! >>
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Everyone take maddogale's advice. Even if you don't buy the part of the program that elimates spyware, at least run the free scan. I just did. It found 48 hidden spywares in all sorts of different parts of my computer. Just incredible.www.spywarebegone.com
EDIT: I just now took Melanie's (melmcbee) advice from above and checked my computer with GRC Shields. Luckily, I passed that test because of my Zone Alarm. Thanks Melanie!
I just noticed that there is a program on here called NoAdware v 1.2. It's on here but I never initiated it. I never clicked on the user's agreement. Is this something I want to keep or uninstall? Now I have SpyHunter that engages upon start up and I run it daily and usually get rid of anywhere from 9 to 11 parasites every day. In addition to this I use Norton Antivirus with Auto Protect on all the time and then there is Optisystems. If someone sends email with something that even remotely looks dangerous, OE will remove it from the system. Hey man, I'm no computer greius but as far as I'm concerned , the more protection- the better!!!!
I tell ya what Dawg, this is a thread worth it's weight in Gold. I have the eBay toolbar and after reading what I just read I may very well download the Yahoo toolbar as well. One of the recurring parasires is dblclick which next time you use live chat on eBay, I believe that is what that is! To me this implies that eBay and it's toolbar are part of the gang of villains!
Boom, everytime I go to "my eBay" my computer blocks doubleclick 3-4 times before I can move on. Also Boom, I'll PM you later about nickels. Little better news on them also.
<< <i>AdAware is old and useless you have to have the new version AdAware SE Personal. >>
Wow! I've always kept AdAware 6 up to date. However, it hasn't detected anything in several weeks. Taking Dog's advice I installed AdAware SE Personal and it identified 47 files!
Also, I down loaded Spyware Doctor and it located another 9 files. After rebooting my computer, everything is running much faster than before.
To those concerned, I know I sound like a salesman for spywarebegone, but in fact, I have Spybot, Ad-Aware SE, Bazooka, AND spyware on my system!! Like most other coin collectors, I tend to be too tight with money that isn't going for that next Type set addition, or addition to my moderns albums... But at the time I bought the spywarebegone, I had items that were not being cleaned up, and an autoinstalling toolbar that only Bazooka would find, but even through several trials I had not eradicated from my system!!! The spywarebegone zapped it!! I update all my spybot programs on a thrice weekly basis, and have had ZERO problems with spyware!! I am personally VERY comfortable with entering my registry and manually nuking codes which Bazooka has stepped me through to find. The reason I tend to push the purchased product I am using is for those who just don't know where to turn, and have no idea what their registry looks like and really don't care, they just want their system back. To me it's just easier to let some good software do the job for me so I have more time to cruise the forums or sleaze-bay
We now return you to your regular thread programming!!!!
"I won't be wronged, I won't be insulted, I won't be laid a hand on; I don't do these things to other people, I require the same from them."
I dont know about all that free stuff, but I do know about the latest version of Norton firewall and Norton antivirus programming. They work just fine for me. Since I paid the money for them, I have never had any more trouble. Before that I had trouble all the time. Now I rest easy.
Never try to stop a pig from getting dirty. It is an impossible task and it annoys the pig!
That's exactly where I'm heading Skate. I have had Norton on here from day one and have had no problems but the little parasites still sneak in so I got Spyhunter and enjoy splattering their butts ever morning and evening.
I have a question. Just now and once before recently my intrusion detection on Norton alerted me to and blocked " info chacteristic of MSSQL_NULL_Packet_DoS" the ip address was both times 64.94.212.253 which is collectors universe. Does anyone know what that MSSQL thing is or why my confuser sees something from here as a attack? Thanks
Boom- <<<So what is this program I am looking at called No AdWare ? >>> Never heard of it out of all I know about spyware. Probably a knockoff of adaware and it probably downloads all kind of free spyware onto your puter for you. I wouldn't mess with a no name obscure program like that.
joeyuk- MSSQL has something to do with using your puter as a server. I don't use windows 2000 or norton firewall so I'm not even going to try to explain it but it's legit and not an attack. Basically it's your computer & CU communicating with each other and saying "the lines are open let's talk". 1 null packet is nothing to worry about but if you get like a hundred of them per second then it's a denial of service attack. You got a false alert. All is cool.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
Joe ... Ron, here; that IP address is: "cuniverse" (64.94.212.253), you can check it by going to>start>MS DOS Promt>and typing in: tracetr, then that IP and hit enter. All that is happening is the site is trying to place a "cookie" on your computer, so if/when you want to return to this, place/page ... it will load quicker, (the computer/s, your's and this one, are just shaking hands ... so to say, to say thy are still connected) (so it has been said ... lol) (that is in layman's terms) ... the site is just trying to put a cookie on your computer for reference later.
You guys sure that those email/s came from Teletrade ... may have been doctored to look like thy have, SPOOF/s with an active-x trojan/s. (Like ya get SPOOF E-mail/s from, PayPal and E-Bay, with hinden viruses/ trojon/s)
Been with those people (Teletrade) since thy came on-line and no problem/s, as of yet, I might add, I'm on their site, at a minimum of 4 times a week for the past few years now.
Set ya Anti-Virus programs to check for these things befor ya open them or click on any link in the e-mail/s, that's the way most if not all of these "varments" get on ya computers to start with.
Also, you can (Outlook Express) right click on the tool bar and select "Customize" in the left hand pane, select "Preview" and add to the right side, then relauch your mail program. Then You can see what there befor you open it. Some of these e-mails can infect your computer even if you don't open them. If you see one you don't think you want to open or you want to block, go up to "message" (on top tool bar) and left click it, go down to "Block Sender". The e-mail program will then delet it. (without opening it) Then move your mouse pointer over "Edit", left click and go down to, "Delet all messages in the Deleted e-mail folder" and left click it, thy are all gone now and you didn't open any of them. When you click the "Block Sender" in previous step, you will be asked, if you want to delet just "this message" or delet "all messages" from this address, make the choice you want. (it's really self explanitory)
Hey guys, I have just been reading this thread and noticed some names of programs that I was told were bad programs. Here is a site that references some of the bad rip-off programs. bad anti-spyware programs
They will give false positives to make you think they are cleaning your computer but in reality they are either doing nothing or more damage.
Bigger than chitt dog, there sits NoAdware. Then it branches off into 1) Help 2) Net Boost Pro 3) NoAdware 4) Remove NoAdwar v 12 and 5) Uninstall.
I have had absolutely no problems with Norton and Symantec. I also have OE which will screen suspicious looking email (attatchments) and remove it from my system, Sometimes it works too well. Unless you send an attatchment just right it will remove it. But still those little bugger parasites, dbl click(that's eBay...if you ever use the live chat feature next time notice on top in Blue is written dbl click.Hmmmm.) Gator used to show up a lot but not anymore. Either it gave up or I quit going wherever that is. If it's Teletrade which I still visit every now and then, it doesn't latch on unless it's changed it's name.. Then there is advertisement and media or multi media. Every day I put Spyhunter on them and remove them but they come back, but you know I always go to the same places. While reading this thread and thinking about dbl click and it's origin, I'm not so sure this eBay toolbar is not such a good idea anymore. I just figured out what multimedia is....some BS email that I read. Besides all this, I have enigma pop up blaster. I just ordered the XP Service Pack 2 CD. I had to change the setting from automatic updated to letting me know about them and then I will decide. That damn Svc Pk2 wouln't leave me alone and one early morning when I went to shut down the puter, it wouldn't and this thing installed itself and screwed up the ole box some kinda bad. Well, it got yanked immediately like a bad tooth and I had to do a Systems Restore. I'M WITH YOU DOG. THIS IS MY DAMN COMPUTER AND I WANT IT TO DO WHAT I WANT IT TO DO!!
I use PestPatrol and it runs in memory and goes "BEEP" everytime some cookie or program tries to install itself and PestPatrol stops it. Let's just say, I had to turn the sound off after a while.
So I download the Free Scan version of "Spywarebegone " and run a scan. It says it finds 15 items and then ask me if I want to clean my system. I click the button and it takes me to web page which takes over my whole desk top and wants me to pay $39.95 to buy the product. I figured I would get at least one free demo clean but no.
So I shut down the website it took me too and went back to checkout the items it found. None of them were there. All the registry entries it reported did not exist. All the files it reported did not exist. I'll never buy this product.
Spywarebegone is one of the programs that is on the list of rogue anti-spyware products. I have never used it because of it being on the list of bad programs. These programs only want your money. I posted that link to hopefully help someone that is using this program and others that were mentioned in this thread.
My wife's computer was infected again!!! I removed IE 6 and installed Opera on it. My daughter who also uses that computer comments on how fast Opera is. I sure hope she didn't see the porn links added to the favorites list before I deleted IE!!!!!! My goodness, what a total invasion of privacy!! I just can't get over how evil the people are who write this slimeware... (have I used up my alotment of exclaimation points?)
Bill, I did the same thing except I saw it through. Now, bear in mind that I have Spyhunter and run it every morning and evening. Even after running this, at Uncle Wiggly's referral and Dog, whom I both know would not mislead me, I went thru the same process and allegedly there were some lttle boogers in my computer. Well, I bought the $199.95 special and the first thing that happens is my computer freezes up. Stuck...nothing, unplug it, all kinda crap for almost 2 hours i fought his damn thing. Well it's on now, everything from Spyware Begone to the bonus "No Trace" to pop up be gone.
Well, I obviously am going to have to tweak this thing. Popup Begone eliminates live chat window at eBay, it will eliminate updates from Microsoft, it even eliminates PMs. Oh, I can read them but I cannot answer them. . Dog or Uncle Wiggly will need too look in my profile and email me and maybe even get my phone # and help me with this beast. I want to check out Spyhunters right now. If this thing works there should be nothing there. I could be missing out on important pop ups, as I said, like from Microsoft and Norton. I'm gonna need help from someone that has experience with this thing..Obviously this has been a very quiet day but what really ticked me off is the fact that even following instructions this thing locked me up and I had to resort to some heavy duty tactics just to get back up and running. Geeez Louise! Showertime, I'll be back.
Melanie, this Popup Begone which is a part of Spyware Begone will not even permit me to leave a PM. I suppose when the PM box pops up this fantastic fricking program that now has me thoroughly confused isn't worth spit.
Norton has served me well for over a year and I have a month before it expires. I was hoping to shop around and get everyone's opinions because as Dog said, THIS IS MY DAMN COMPUTER and I do not want to be spyed on and hounded / shadowed by ANYONE, whether it's eBay's dbl click and their tool bar or PCGS' cookies, Joe Blow's parasites or anyone else's crap.
All I know is that I am really pissed and am going to take a shower and if by Monday evening I do not get all this crap straightened out I will call the lady who knows her stuff and get this thing back up to speed. I am so pissed. Enigma/ Pop up swatter,9WHATEVER) Spy Hunter/ Norton OE Optisystems and now this thing Spyware Begone and friends are all gonna get uninstalled and I will go with the general consensus' candidate for best Firewall/ Spykiller/ Cloaking device money can buy that works properly. Not being able to leave or answer PMs sucks the bag!!!
DOG, I CANNOT LEAVE ANYONE A PM AND THIS POS LOCKED UP MY COMPUTER LAST NIGHT> I HOPE YOU READ THIS AND MAYBE LEAVE YOUR PHONE # IN AN EMAIL TO warren54@eatel.net
Well I'll be I purchased and installed Spyware Begone and all the aforementioned BS last night. This so called all world program right...well I just ran Spyhunter, the program that I've had on here for a year and discovered that 10 parasites made it through this new Program. So, I have paid for nothing! This $#i+ is getting uninstalled and brother are they going to hear from me. Spyhunter even tells me the origin of the cookies/ parasites and since I cannot copy iy, it looked something like this, EVEN WITH SPYBEGONE INSTALLED AND RUNNING. bOY, THE reults speak for themselves. IS THERE A LAWYER IN THE HOUSE? I want to sue for Fraud and false advertisement Parasite Object Name Location Type Danger Advertising Advertising C/ Documents etc Cookie Medium Advertising Advertising C/Documents etc Cookie Medium Atdmt Atdmt " " " " Bfast Bfast " " " " Double Click doubleclick " " " Media media " " " Media media " " " Mediaplex mediaplex " " " Served by served by " " " Value Click value click " " " ******************************************************************************************************* ALL THIS WITH SpywareBegone, Bonus No Trace and PopupBegone INSTALLED AND RUNNING! Wow!!! I am SO IMPRESSED. THIS PROGRAM IS ABOUT AS USELESS AS TEETS ON A BOAR HOG! I definitely need a col shower now. To say I am pissed would be a gross understatement! I'll be back ttt
I have found that PestPatrol works great for finding all kinds of spy/ad/trojans/ect. I find it very useful and I have it doing automatic timed scans at bootup. I also have Ace Utilities which safely deletes registry items that no longer exist or are just broken links. Both of these programs help keep my puters running smoothly. I also recommend using McAfee Firewall and AntiVirus.
Basically I just paid for something that does not do what it claims and I want to uninstall it safely and let these people know what happened...that I caught them in a lie and therefore I sure as hell neither want it nor do I want to pay for something that is useless. The only thing it did do was stop pop ups as proven by my inability to even answer a PM perceived by it to be a popup.....unless someone that uses this thing and actually knows for sure that it works can help me out here. When I ran Spyhunter tonight and found those same normal 11 parasites it told me that it does not perform as claimed.
I had the exact same problem awhile back - you have been hijacked. I was just about the throw my computer completely away - Blue Screen of Death, error messages, computer lock ups, slow everything, and something kept continually trying to access the internet. I worked on the problem for a week - using no less than 9 spyware removal programs.
I had even tried misconfig removal. Also they say to run these removal programs in safe mode and to reboot each time, and to run them multiple times - which I did - with no luck. I would run one, and reboot, run another, reboot - and on and on and hours later it was STILL THERE.
The only thing that finally solved my problem and got my computer back to norm was VX2Finder9x.exe. After I ran that really short program - everything was fine again.
I agree - this should be a FELONY and life in prison!
A quick search says you can find it here, but you may want to read about it and/or run another search - This site is a dot org, so think it is OK, but no guarantees:
I have Norton System Works and I run Ad-Aware Plus 6.0 which also includes Ad-watch. The Ad-Watch blocks stuff trying to get in and also blocks attempts to change registry items. According to the GRC Sheilds Up site I am true stealth for all tests. I should add I have that service pack 2 installed.
This morning while surfing PCGS and EBAY, my computer blinked a couple of times while I was reading this post. Feeling confident that my Macafee program would block all unwanted spys, I just decided to give Adaware a try. Was I wrong. There were 514 critical hits from all over. It only took a couple of tries to get rid of these unwanted hits and after reading about all the troubles you all have had, I am glad I added adaware. Thanks for the post. It really helped my machine.
Ad-aware overestimates problems, in my opinion. Most likely most of those critical hits are cookies. WHile they may track your web surfing habits, they don't affect your system performance or cause popups. It's the program files and registry entries you need to worry about.
<<<Ad-aware overestimates problems, in my opinion. Most likely most of those critical hits are cookies.>>> Naw. It tells you which ones are cookies, which ones are files, and which ones are registry keys. I toss my cookies several times a day but like I said in the initial post but some of the 153 hits I had on my puter had been there for months. Like "cool web search" I battled that months ago & thought it was all gone. I had ecelerator from a year or so ago when I downloaded something just to see if it really made my internet run any faster. I thought they were all gone but they were still lurking in the registry.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
I just downloaded the update from Spybot S&D last night. The Advanced Library update. It's slick as can be and covers a whole lot of new ground. New tools also. It immunized my laptop for another 471 different attackers.
All of you should reboot your puter in safe mode. Then run your programs. Many adware re-install after running adaware etc. Doing this will get the self-regenerating crap that is on your computer. Try it and post your results!

I've got bad news for youses', I've been allocated a crappy older computer and it had about 400 hits from AdAware.
No program can permanently defeat the enemies. As fast they are deleted, they re-appear.
Not AdAware, Not CWShredder, Not Spybot, Not Spy Sweeper.
Suffice to say, I'll not be buying ANYTHING on Ebay or Online during this holiday season. (Hint, hint... Ebay are you listening?)
We now return you to your regular thread programming!!!!
