Here is the scoop......We came into Florida to enjoy sunny skies and warm 80 degree weather.....starting viewing Heritage Lots asap as quite a bit of interesting material was up for grabs....pays to look, as all auctions because some coins were far better than described some much worse...for example 1 1795 half eagle had a scratch that really makes me wonder how it could get into a holder........Thur dealer day was probably one of the best days we have seen the whole year....sold a lot of material.....the promotor is really trying to make this show work....
on the plus side....first 2,000 people Fri/Sat were given a 2004 American Eagle....thats putting up so that they draw people in....
plus side....low parking fees only $9 for all three days (hey is $9 for 30minutes in NYC)
Free Adm...
Downside for dealers....lack of good hotel space within walking distance at reasonable prices....one dealer I know is paying $150 per night for a poor room and on top has to pay taxi fare to go back and forth....this may be due to the recent storms...many people are staying in hotels til their houses are repaired....taking away from available space...
another downside....Thur Noon arrive time....tables for dealers not set up......when you come in you want to get right to work not hang around waiting....
Plus side...dealer free buffet on Thur....of course there was no other food services in the building to get a soda/food....
Neg side....severe drop out of dealers....there are many tables where the dealers did not show up
plus side....all the dealers there are doing pretty good business.....
Florida dealers scored with special table incentives....
Negative....lighting is really poor...only 1/2 overheads are on...result bourse floor is depressing and dark.....FLICK THE SWITH LET THE LIGHT SHINE....
Coins....lots of good stuff out there....we picked up lots and lots of great NEWPS...check our website next week
Friday today was quiet ....seems like sales were mixed...not the biggest turnout but we shall see what Sat brings
if you are at the show please stop bye our booth # 908 - 906
enjoy
Jon
PS: auction lots going for double bid on many coins.....my fav 1792 half disme...around 75k hammer
