Found these in unopened 66 SMS set...Cameo and Toning

I picked up a few unopened 66 SMS sets and couldn't resist opening them up. I found quite a few cameo coins.Mostly Wash.,Rosies and Jeffersons. Also this toned Kennedy was a nice treat.

Grade opinions welcomed...

I'm not going to hazard a guess as to grades, but you've got some nice finds there! I love the toning on the half. Your post reminded me of a question I've been pondering.... I wonder when the amazingly huge supply of "unopened" early proof sets is going to be exhausted?? image

Neat toning. And you don't find many cameo Roosies.

If my sellers are truthful, I have a total of 41 unsearched 1966 & 1967 SMS Sets on the way. 5 each 1975 & 1978 mint sets too.
Give Blood (Red Bags) & Platelets (Yellow Bags)!

Thanks for all the nice comments..

Coinhusker1: Yes, it was in the original mint holder...I couldn't believe it when I opened up the box. It looked like the corner of the plastic wasn't sealed all the way.

XpipedreamR: I like it too !! I was hoping to find a couple cameo Kennedy halves...

beartracks42: Thanks, When I get the time I want to send them in for grading....

Myqqy: I like buying unopened boxes..You know they are trully unopened.... I can't imagine there being that many more available in the marketplace...

itsnotjustme: Got a few rosies in the bunch... Good luck on your search.. Keep us informed!!

You might have something even a little more exciting on that half than the toning. Under the rh talon of the eagle there are supposed to be the initals of the designer (FG). In your picture they appear to be at least partially and possibly completely missing. If this is the case you have a huge score and this may even qualify you for a "you suck". The nickel looks like a 66cam to me.

The half is nice, but that Jefferson has some amazing mirrors for the issue.

    It isn't the No FG.

What's the story with the "no FG" Kennedy? Why is it missing on some coins? Was it missing from the die or due to worn dies? Are there varieties with weak FG's?

I'll try to get some better pics up later of the cameo coins in the bunch. There were quite a few Jeffersons,Washingtons and several Rosies.

Almost all the Lincolns are extremely well struck and are solid Red...

    Thanks,
    Randy

It was abraded away on some dies from over polishing.

Yes, but it must be completely gone to qualify as an FS-013.9.

What if you're a little strapped for cash, Russ, and only looking for an FS-013.7, or maybe even an FS-013.8? That would probably be pretty good too, don't you think?

Maybe if you didn't look at it with your loupe you could imagine that the FG is completely effaced. If you were really short that week, I imagine you could even get an FS-013.5 or so, and just hold your thumb over the FG area or perhaps view it through a gauze or other mesh material image

What is the FS-013.7 and FS-013.8 designation for? Partial FG ?

If you bought an FS-013.8, you'd be buying a DDO 1966 SMS. Don't know what the other is.

<< <i>I imagine you could even get an FS-013.5 or so >>

That would be a 1964-D TDO.
