  Weren't the proofs struck without the engravers initials?
  edited: I guess that was just for the 1941.

  There are various date/mints reported with missing initials. The initials were raised on the die an poloishing of the die could easily weaken or remove them. As a simple die polishing error I do not consider them to be very special. It's just a die that should have been retired.

  Some proofs are w/o initials--I don't believe they command any significant premium.

  I am not sure about the 43, I do believe that the 1918-D without initials and either the 29-D or S HAVE A PREMIUM.

  If it's a business strike without the initials it should carry some sort of premium, shouldn't it? Maybe they aren't rare, but there seems like there would be a scarcity factor.
