For myself, we have found that it is definitely worth the fees to accept cc's. As soon as we started, our sales went up by 35 percent and bid amounts were higher. That more than offset the fees for us.

I haven't seen that personally, but then I'm not a volume seller.

You wouldn't have seen it - you don't accept credit cards.

After denying a credit card through PayPal I once told a customer that I already pay ebay enough money in fees and thats why I don't accept credit card.

But why should I, as a seller, not offer the PayPal payment options that exclude credit card payment to my ebay customers?

It's not an all-or-nothing prospect. There is no reason in the world why you cannot choose to offer Paypal without the credit card option. Your bids and bid values are still higher than those who don't accept Paypal at all. All I'm saying is that our sales increased dramatically in volume of bids and bid values by accepting credit cards. For all I know, it may not work that way for other sellers.

    Hello
It has been asked of me by a friend to post in a civil manner on this thread! I will do so for his sake! The fact that has bothered me from the start is that it appeared to me Matthew planned the whole thing. I say this because there is no doubt that he knew I had shipped his item before he emailed about the insurance. He now has the money and the coin. I have never enforced the insurance clause except when it appeared that I was being scammed as it did and still does in Matthew’s case. I have been harassed by some of the members of this forum from the very beginning.
I did state in the beginning that I felt that Matt intended to swap the coin. The reason for this is simple. I checked his recent auctions won and he had won three auctions with the same type of coin. I do not contend that he in fact swapped the coins; it merely appeared to me to be so at the time. I did not consider at the time that he could in fact be looking for an excuse to launch a vendetta on this forum. I thought that anyone could see that it was an unjustified attack. I mean he accused me of everything from being a con man to spreading a computer virus. The mistake I made was to answer PayPal as if I were dealing with a reasonable person. I did not read the email fully! If I had, I would have answered the multitude of accusations! I was allowed Five hundred words to present my side of the issue! Matthew used what is referred to as scatter gun tactics. The facts as they now stand are Matthew has his coin and I am out the money! Well that is the way it appears to me!

    Thanks Joe

That's nice. It doesn't change the fact that you are a seller of overgraded cleaned junk. But, it's nice.

How is this relevant to the topic? And, BTW, glad to here it looks like it will work out for you.

I said earlier that it was probably an honest mistake when he paid by credit card and that appears to be the way it really was. In the future don't panic, just contact the buyer and straighten out the problem. By the way, don't ship until the payment is properly taken care of.

I have to admit that I get payment taken care of much quicker when I can pay with paypal usually right after the action ends. I am more likely to bid on an item where the seller accepts paypal also. I normally only bid on rare or unique items from sellers that do not accept paypal.

Your situation has nothing to do with this thread.

Only a midget could use them for shaving kits since they're too small. Want to buy some?

I'm glad that things have apparently worked out for both parties.
