I don't collect these, but I recently freed this from a proof set for a type set collection.
Does anyone have any more pics of MODERN coins they wish to share?

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
Sent this in this week to PCGS we'll see how it comes back
For me, MODERN is any coin that was made after I was born! (I guess my grandmother can post a Morgan if she is reading this)

I think the coin tjkillian posted is "modern" in the sense that it was coined on a steam press and not a screw press.
some of us consider the boundary of classics/moderns to be 1836.

<< <i>Don't worry tjkillian, no one saw your "classic" pic because the thread title has the word "MODERN", and no one will read a thread that uses that word! And since no one is looking: >>
As Baley correctly pointed out, some folks think the start of the "Modern" era starts with the steam presses in 1836. The coin I posted is a CLOSED COLLAR coin and hence a modern by my definitions.

O.K., now I'm following!
So would there be other "production" changes that would draw more lines, such as electric presses?
The word "modern" is much broader than I imagined!
The battle scars of all the good times
There ya go. It's a "Modern" pic.
Nothing special.
<< <i>braddick, are you sure that's Ike and not some member of the Blue Man Group without his make-up? >>
It's funny you should mention that as my wife and I recently returned from Las Vegas and saw their show.
And now you've got me looking at this Ike in a whole new perspective!
it cost me a nickel in 1980 and i still have it
