These pictures were posted on another forum by someone who keeps insisting that the hole must be a planchet defect.
One of his arguments that it wasn't done with a nail or similar object is that:

While I dunno about percentages, I have 'em all over the place: in the center, at the top, off to one side, multiple holes, square holes, round holes, jagged, rough holes, and small, tidy holes. I prefer a small, tidy hole near the top rim, of course.
Holey coins are as individual as snowflakes.
