Identification help on hammered bronze

What is this? A guy at work brought this in today and challenged me to ID it. It looks French to me, but I have no references to work from.

Thanks,

Gene

I have seen that symbol on the left somewhere very recently, but for the life of me I can't remember where. I believe it was part of an intricate coat of arms. It's a stirrup.

It's almost certainly a French jetton from the 1300's to 1400's, maybe as late as the early 1500's. Probably brass.
I have a jetton that has a similar cross reverse, but the obverse is different from other old french jettons that i
    have seen.

I agree with what the Coach said.

The design on the obverse reminds me of some of the French deniers of the period.

Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.
