I feel gipped my 1999 Proof set only has nine coins in it
Over in the rec.collecting.coins newgroup they were discussing this ebay seller.
[1999 ten coin proof set
It made me have to go dig out of storage my 1999 Proof set to see what they were talking about.
My 1999 nine coin Proof set
I feel gipped, I only have 9 coins in my set. No SBA.
I didn't know you could open these plastic cases without damaging them.

Maybe the unpopularity of the dollar coin is the reason 1999 sets are worth the most (since they dont have one).
<< <i>Would you really want an SBA dollar in there?

Not a chance. It was the way they were sold is what makes them worth the most.
Someone can take a 1998 or so coin case and fix it up and put it out on Ebay for $175.00 as a 1999 USMINT Proof Set.
I learn something new every day.
I think in a 100 years or so the coin collectors will be debating which set is the official one or not.
Maybe it will be a PCGS variety Proof Set then.

No you use a 2000 proof set case. The 1998 case is sealed and you would destroy it opening it, also it would only be a five coin set. Back in 2000 scammers were creating these ten coin 1999 sets and selling them as RARE 10 coin sets claiming they were issued that way from the mint and they were getting some really crazy money for them.
Apparently the scammers are still in business. And they are still getting crazy money for them.
