Do grading services look for DDs or errors?

When you submit a coin for grading to the major services do they look for double dies/errors or do youhave to request specifically what you would like them to look for when grading?

You have to tell them what you think it is and if they agree they will slab it as such - except for PCGS, which is extremely picky about what they put on their slabs.

ANACs is the best at this. I have had varieties... D/D varieties spotted by them that I missed.

Only ANACS will. They known the varieties inside and out and the graders have been there forever.

Some services have a "variety" service where they will research those things and label them for an extra free. PCGS is more picky in this area. I have one 1964 lincoln doubled die reverse. A very nice one, too, with big split serifs. I doubt PCGS would label it.
