The 3 Bicentennial coins sound like they fit this criteria.

Any coin only produced for only two years.

Placid: Does this mean specifically for 2 years, or does this perhaps also include 1 year type coins like the 1883 No Cents Liberty Nickel, and the 1913 Buffalo Nickel ??

Only posting what the person at pcgs told me.
I did not ask if that included one year only coins.

jcping: The 1921 Peace Dollar was also only a 1 year variety -- they began the "normal" shallow relief version in 1922.

CarolJ's reply and clarification excerpted from a similar thread...

This quarter’s special is TWO YEAR TYPE COINS. These are U.S. coins that were made for only two years.

Examples would include the 1866-67 Shield Nickel (with rays), the Type I Standing Liberty Quarter (1916-17), No Stars Seated Dimes (1837-38), No Motto $10 Liberties (1907-08) and others. Even the Flying Eagle cent qualifies (1857-58) as the 1856’s were technically patterns. How many others can you find?

Interesting -- I have a 1917 typeI SLQ I was debating sending in ... maybe now's the time to do it. image

I also have a 1979-s type2 SBA, but that and the 1981-s doesn't seem like a two-year type -- just two years in the series that happened to have "type2" coins...
