I think hundreds of the Wells Fargo pieces made PCGS 67. And as I recall maybe 30 of the 5,000-10,000 hoard were 68's. Next to the 1908NM, all the other dates are "rare" in 67 and 68.
It's interesting (to me) that they list the Wells Fargo pops separately. Does anyone know if there was some demand for this, and why? I can't think of another coin listed this way.

Wells fargo was a important company in its time, stagecoaches and stuff ya know.
J.Lynch hero's and 2000 Millenium set are a couple of other "coins" that have seperate listing in the pop reports. I am sure there are others.
Why 45? I don't know. There must have been some stashed away before they got into bags...
I would like one in 66 or 67. Well I would like one in 68 too! The supposed Gem MS 65 grade often has loads of bag marks. That would never happen on a small half eagle.

I am curious, though...what is the 1908 Wells Fargo variety(?). Most of the higher grade NGC and PCGS coins seem to be of this type.
<< <i>I just looked up the PCGS and NGC numbers...so I won't say.

I was surprised. I was also surprised that almost all of them were Wells Fargo pieces.
I wonder why that was.
The wells fargo ones came from a private hoard that was stored in a bank and then sold to wells fargo.
To be more specific pcgs graded 8144 wells fargo coins. Of that 100 made ms68 and 10 ms69.
The majority (4850) graded ms66.
