Conflicting payment instructions-opinions and advice sought

I would like to ask a rather serious question. I will provide the link to ebay seller cambrittcoin. Just check out how he contradicts his own payment instructions. What would you suggest? When a buyer goes to check out he sees this...Visa and Mastercard accepted atop each and every item's page and again underneath his completely contradictory payment instructions. I have asked live chat about this and even emailed Safe Harbor and have not heard back from the but this is not at all right! Check this out. Look at the top and again UNDER his instructions. What to do about this? He offers no insurance either! V Second attempt

NO I TOLD YOU I DO NOT TAKE CREDIT CARD IF YOU DONT WANT THE COIN THATS
AL RIGHT, MONEY ORDER OR A PERSONAL CK THANK YOU
This person does put Payment methods accepted Visa/MasterCard in his auctions so its just asking for buyer issues on their part.
Look at your item's page. Right there on top, on the left hand side it says the following! (See Below)This coupled with your feedback is the ONLY reason I bid. You have contradicted yourself and then you go on to say at the bottom of the page- No credit cards and insurance NOT offered. I believe it best if we mutually agree to forego this transaction as I will not do business this way. Any suggestions?

If he lets you out, and your not comfortable -- get out. But I suppose if he's willing to let you out (1) he's trustworthy (2) you got the coin for less than he expected.
I don't think you can force him to take credit cards despite what his page says. If he isn't set up to except it, what could you do?

accepted. With all these positives right before me I saw no need to look any further, never even thinking that an established
seller of this caliber would make repeated errors without catching them.
Four sellers on e-Bay that I've dealt with for some time that can take credit cards directly now have my credit card number on file.
Also about sellers making mistakes? Happens all the time. Even you and me.
Just look at this and you will understand what I mean.
Whenever I sold a the bay, I too, never offerd insurance because it automatically is included with the S&H. Nothing that I sell goes out the door w/o insurance. Even if it's a $34.00 item, I make sure that I put a $51.00 insurance charge on it so the recipiant has to sign for it (I don't trust that little red stamp they put on it...means NOTHING). Anyhow, The contradiction in the s&H charges is probably an oversight on the seller. I've found, all too often, that many sellers do this. I simply email them and ask what's the scoop, and they usually reply; "Sorry, I haven't got around to changing it." I've purchased from this seller (Cambritton) in the past and had no problems.
It's a nice looking coin. Just send him a money order! Did you want to pay with credit because you are short on cash, and were planning on flipping the coin (maybe even getting it upgraded, and then selling) before you actually had to pay for it? If this isn't the case, then I think you're just being stubborn

items and this same repeated faux pas, he would have ammended it by now. It's just a matter of principle. He has Visa/
MasterCard accepted atop the page and even under his payment instructions which are exactly opposite. What reallly irks me
is the no insurance bit on top of this repeated boo-boo. This man with 100% positive feedback needs to get his head out his
derriere.
Tell ya what. I'm going to ask him about the insurance right now! If he insists that I do not have the option to cover my butt
then....NO SALE! Man, I showed this to live chat and the little chat guy was just as confused as the seller. I was just telling a
fellow board member that I don't care for people with HIA disease let alone people with HIA disease AND an attitude!
Let me check this dude out! At the very least I'll see to it that he changes this puzzle so that this fiasco never transpires again.
<< <i>Simple, don't buy from him! >>
Wallstreetman is right. Sellers with confusing terms should be avoided.
Boom - it sounds like you enjoy making your life more complicated than it needs to be. Just send him a check for $160, get your coin and move on.

Even though the seller didn't ask you to read and comprehend, it's always a good idea to just go ahead and check these details anyhow prior to bidding so there is no confusion once the auction is over. You will find that most sellers are good honest people, but being simple humans, they can on occasion make a mistake. When you encounter a problem like this, the first thing to think about is how you would like to be treated if God forbid you ever make a mistake.
not everyone feels this way as is proven by all the cons, scam artists and people trying to steal others' identities.
I suppose that is what made God, when He was amongst us by the Name of Jesus, so special. He had the
ability to forgive unspeakable acts committed against Him and continues to still do so to this very day, whereas on the one
hand if we do not protect ourselves and constantly turn the other cheek- give unto everyone who would borrow from us
without expecting repayment.....etc etc, while we would find favor with God-the world, on the other hand, would run right over
us just as they did Him. This is the conflict between our Spirits and the flesh. Our spirits may be willing but our "selves" our
humanity has this inate, engrained drive to survive. This could get deep. If we are to continue this it should be on another
forum as surely we do not want to infringe on other peoples' rights. Afterall, this IS a coin forum!
I'm not quite sure, but I don't think God really cares if you can't use your credit card to buy your quarter.

<< <i>What's the big deal about paying by MO or check? Any number of times I've wished the seller had diff terms. In many cases there were contradictory terms as ebayers pretty much use the canned set up. Just follow through on your obligation and pay up. I've never used a CC on ebay and avoid all sellers who request it is the only payment option. MO's are a pain in the butt to go and get, but once in a while it doesn't hurt to visit the Post Office!

I pay with nothing but credit card. More protection if it is a rip off. I sent a M.O. ONE time and got ripped royally. The bank is going to give me my money back? At least with my credit card, if it is a out right scam, they'll take the charge off and go after the person.
Maybe he had no interest in believing in intrest.; therefore, he's not interested in our paying intrest which is a very interesting subject that should be in the open forum.
He didn't know how to fix this in his listing or just made a mistake.
For that he gets this. Ain't it fun to sell on Ebay.
<< <i> You surely saw this conflict before bidding >>
Wrong Ken The page was before me. I saw the item, how long was left in the auction, where it stood price-wise. I then saw
directly in front of me Visa and Mastercard accepted. I glanced to the right and saw feedback percentage & how long he's been around. I glanced towards the bottom of the page and saw credit cards accepted AGAIN! At this point, this is all I need to know.
I make it a point NOT to send ckecks, money order, cashiers checks etc because I've been burned before. Had I even remotely seen no credit cards accepted in the smaller print, at the very least I would have used the ask the seller a question feature and asked WTF is it?
I asked for your opinions regarding mixed signals NOT about how or why I choose to pay the way I do. Thank you.
Huh-huh. Your humor about God, Mr Doug by the Sea, has me is stitches. Ha...ha. Oh BTW Big Dave, since you are admittedly aware of your error you DO have the ability to change and clarify the situation, ya know!
UPDATE...eBay's Customer Service's Response to my questionning the ethics of this fiasco edited for space! 6-21-04
There are several steps that you can take to ensure that this purchase
is successfully resolved, including contacting the seller by telephone,
using a secure method of payment, and requesting that the seller ship
the item insured. Please refer to the help page at the link listed below
for more information about the options available to you:

The listing does state that credit cards are accepted. I can understand
your frustration for a seller who is refusing to complete a transaction
according to the auction terms. In order for me to take action on your
report, please send me a copy of the actual email along with its full
header where the seller refuses to sell the item that was properly won.
Also, please be advised that, in order for eBay to investigate this
matter further, you must submit the email and header in a single email.

As you can see, even eBay is admitting that the seller is refusing to complete the transaction per his own terms.
They also go on to say he should offer insurance which he does NOT!
This whole "Issue" with me can best be summed up in one word......PROTECTION....or the lack thereof.
I don't have a problem with a money order, sent requiring a return receipt for my peace of mind - No running
off with the money claiming, "I never got it!" and insurance, again for peace of mind to, in fact, know that I
will either receive what I am paying for or a refund! THAT'S IT...the whole thing in a nutshell.
I appreciate everyone's comments. Thank you.
