It all depends on what kind of mood I'm in....

when I decide to "CRACK OUT" an MS graded Morgan Dollar from a PCGS holder and PLOP it into my Whitman blue book simply to do it to fill the darn book. How about you?image

Like the other day, it was just one of those days; wherein, I cracked out a 84-CC to PLOP it into my W.B.B.

I'm a book filler and have cracked over 50 slabs, including several PCGS ones.

I crack out a lot to fill in books. I am currently working on a Dansco US Type Set book in AU58 - MS63+. Many of the coins I find are slabbed so my option is to crack.

I would rather get a nice "clean" view of the coins in a book rather than in their plastic coffin. However, I do like to know a professional grade and in some cases protection of the coin.

you might like this: my dansco type set; most of the tougher coins in this set were cracked out of the slabs they were purchased in

  • The only slabs that I have ever cracked were for re-submission. I usually do just the opposite of you guys and will take coins from my albums and submit them. I won't do that anymore though becuase every time I have done that, I then have a missing hole to fill in myalbum. It's a bad cycle that only causes turmoil in my mind.
