PCI or ANACS

I have some common morgans that I would like to certify and I dont want to pay the going rates at PCGS and NGC. So, given this, who should I send these to?

Anacs? Wait for the $9 silver dollar special?
PCI? PCI is having a $6 special that I could take advantage of....

Tough choice...I might opt for PCI if I were thinking of selling them on ebay or something. Not that I like PCI for grading, but if all I wanted was a slab for resale purposes I guess the few dollars would be wisely spent.

If they're common, why certify them in the first place?
If you insist, go with ANACS. It's not even close.
  • ANACS. Do they have a chance at MS65 or better?
  • If you submit to NGC thru their on line form you get a 10% discount which means economy only costs $13.50 and the difference in resale value compared to ANACS should more then cover the few dollars extra in fees.

I really dont think so, I suppose I could get lucky, but I think I am looking at 63 and 64.

And while they are common they are not garbage. I am also trying to assemble a full set so I would like the slab for resale purposes when I am done.

    go with ANACS

If you go with PCI, I think you'll be throwing your money away. Even if they are properly graded, people will not bid strong money on them due to the horrible reputation that PCI has right now. I agree that you should go with anacs or ngc if you're not willing to wait on pcgs.

Do you really need to slab these? If they are only 63-64 it may not be worth the bother or the money.

Are you seriously considering PCI? I can't believe anyone would after reading this forum for awhile.

Your coins would do better raw than in PCI plastic. My advice is to spend the extra bucks and go with PCGS.

ANACS, hands down. Show submittals are usually $12 a coin, plus you get free opinions on the grades and can cull out cleaned or AU58 surprises and save money.
  • You get what you pay for.

I'll sell you some holders with a label with a grade (provided I haven't seen the coin) for less than the cost of PCI... same quality product, though...
