I'm in the same boat as you. I'm on a Mac and I've tried OS9, OSX, Internet Explorer, Safari, and Netscape. 5 times this day has come and gone since I joined and I have never seen the icon upload button.

I'm not sure if this helps, but I just chose the icon from the panel that said "Select author icon". Once I picked one, I clicked on the button that said "Update Profile", and BAM it was in there. I never had to use the UPLOAD AUTHOR ICON. Unless that option is for choosing your own, and not one from the list. If that's the case, this info is useless. Just trying to help.

First you need to have a "webserver" or a place to "host" the picture.

If you look at mine it is at:

http://facciolli.com/vcards/images/aknot.gif

So It is "hosted" on my webserver. Google for "Free Picture Hosting"

Once you find a place to host it go into your profile in the signature area and place (see mine above) the "path" to the image in there. You will have to "surround" it with image tags. The image tag is the 3 letters IMG surrounded by brackets [], at the beginning and at the end of of the path close the tage by putting /IMG inside brackets [].

It was too big in size so I had to scale it a bit

I'm not trying to web host it for a sig... I already have a different icon for that on my own web host page. I'm trying to get bench_icon.jpg to upload here. Still not seeing it, even though some very helpful souls have done it for me. Thanks to all who have tried to help. Maybe CU doesn't allow Bench icons, because there ain't a damn one out of the thousands in the list!

I wasn't trying to host it. I renamed and resized it for you, you can get the updated version of it off my site. That's what I was trying to say.

Thanks Carol, thanks Envoy, pandrews and others. It appears that Mac users are shut out of "upload icon" utopia. And that those who kindly uploaded my icon can see it, but I cannot since I didn't upload it. Hmmm. How did those other 50 zillion icons get into the "public" area where everyone could see them? pandrews, I do see your kingpin-ernie.

But, in keeping with the thread, I did change my icon. It is not evident though, because I only changed the number of bullets in the chamber.

I missed it again.....I have been trying to get my Reds Icon uploaded for a few months. Unfortunately I'm always away from my home computer on the 15th. Back from Germany on Sunday. Maybe next month......If anyone has a retro Reds pic from the 75-76 Big Red machine please add for me....Thanks
