Lewis & Clark C$C Set - still nothing

Ok, so I ordered 4 sets on May 15. The Mint still says shipping on 6/30. The VERY HELPFUL (read as much sarcasm as possible) person on the other end of the phone tells me that I will receive my order in 4-6 weeks. They have not received product form the Mint and they can provide no other information.

So, did the Mint take orders beyond the 50,000 limit and are hoping for returned items before they ship?

From what I understand about what's in there, its nothing great. Should I cancel? What is anybody's take on this issue? I know there have been many threads on here, but I wanted to start a new one as this saga continues...

  • I'm still waiting for my one set. They still are in demand and can be sold at a profit on eBay. Either you want one for your collection or you want to make a little profit. So why cancel?

Mine finally arrived, after visting just about every post office in california, it arrived yesterday at my inbox.

I ordered 3, opened one, the nickels really look nice, very few nicks, and the surface of them almost look like

the dies were specially prepared, weakly matte looking, perhaps new dies.

The Sac really looks nice, the surface is definitely different than any circ strike Sacs.

Overall, I am happy with them. Keepers.

Sorry you haven't received yours. Mine were ordered early on the morning of the 12th of June and just arrived.

Sorta sucks, but worth the wait.

I got mine yesterday & I'm sure only after I had previously talked with the mint on several occasions! I was one fo the first orders on 5/12, had the money taken from the account, then put back, then the ordered had the infamous "there is a problem" error which prompted my frequent calls. There never was a problem anyone could find & I was constantly informed my order will be shipped in a couple of days which never happened. I had to let go just to maintain but I will say one thing.....I got my proofs shipped a couple days before & there was no additional shipping charges
I even noticed that ya can't get proofs now until late July and the price has increased to 38 or $39!!!
I got proofs only because there was only a $2 difference and at that time they were $35.00

  • I had ordered mine on the first day of issue, with a credit card, and had the same "problem" message. I did nothing but waited. The 3 sets came yesterday! I opened one but kept the other 2 sealed. The one I opened looked real nice but after hearing of the other sets people were sending back I might open the other 2.image

I just received my set and nothing special about the nickels, both D mints that look like the ones out of a roll. The Sac looks like the Mint employees used it for a hockey puck with a big gash on the forehead. The
L&C commemorative dollar looks nice. Overall the set is nicely done. The Peace medal is nice too. For $90
I'm happy I only bought one. For that price they should have picked out nicer coins. image

Just checked and it says my order was just sent out today
One thing I am curious about is the peace medal. Is this something extra ?Maybe I read it incorrectly???
    I cant find the brochure.
Can someone out there could doublecheck this for me? There is a picture of it in the brochure but in the copy there is no mention of it.
Just the 2 nickels, stamps and the Commemorative Half is described.

  • I got mine last week and had to send it back. The box had been folded in half and was crushed. It was not packaged very well. US Mint needs negative feedback on that one!
