Should the Eagles be removed from coins and be replaced with Doves?

I don't think so! Our country is founded on strength, and our coinage has an Eagle on it as a symbol for many things and strength is one of those thing. I'd bet though some would prefer a Dove.

  • Leave the eagle alone. If you must change it, use the falcon. image

Actually Ben Franklin proposed the turkey as the national bird, but the eagle won out

  • I could see a turkey on some kind of commemorative out of respect
for Ben Franklin. Other than that, it is eagles all the way!

A dove? I look at a dove as a symbol of peace. . .certainly not for us. Maybe Switzerland. . but not the good ol' USA.

Before you flame me for what appears to be an anti-American statement. . .step into the shoes of someone in another country for a while and look at us from their prospective.

The last thing you could accuse the U.S. of being is a peaceful country. The rest of the world has recognized that for a long time.... image

Eagles are kind of overdone. They're a great symbol, but it seems everybody uses eagles (or lions).

Maybe Ben Franklin was right- at least he picked something uniquely American. Too bad turkeys are dumb and kind of ugly. (Though some might say that makes 'em an even more appropriate symbol for us, LOL). The bison (buffalo) was a good pick for a quintessentially American critter, and seems to still be popular. (Though there's still that problem about it being dumb and edible. Hmm.) How 'bout the mountain lion?

The turkey Franklin recommended was the wild turkey which is smart, fast, yet still as ugly as any other turkey.
