I wanna join the ANA

I think I should. How much is it gonna cost me, and is there any certain thing I need to do to join? The website isn't working for me.

I just discovered the problem Regardless of your or my edit, the link function in fusetalk automatically inserts an extra http:// when it sees an https:// . Neither of us used the secure site link button.

My personal opinion is that the ANA supports lots of numismatic ventures that help the hobby (yes, and the industry, too).
They do lots of things with YNs, they have excellent resources, and they stand for a basis of fairness and equity (yes, I know there are members who don't).
It's only about $30-something a year and is worth many times the price.
BTW - I've had lots of potential collectors/traders/buyers who have specifically asked if I am a member of the ANA.

I think I'll take the plunge since you people made it so easy by supplying the link.
The ANA lending library is magnificent. It's the largest numismatic lending library in the US (if not the world) and the libarians there are aces. ANA members get to borrow books, slide presentations, videos, etc. for the cost of postage!
The ANA is dedicated to numismatic education and their Summer Seminar (aka "coin camp") is the best deal in coin collecting. One week of non-stop numismatics. And as a wonderful bonus, you get to rub elbows with the icons in the hobby (such as Ken Bressett). I went there for the first time a few years ago and I am hooked!

Some classes offered at different shows around the country are cheaper... and some items from the ANA store are cheaper, I believe.
Then again, the library is immensely valuable. I recommend that everyone try it--I've had books shipped and taken time to just sit in there and read... some fascinating stuff, and great people run it, as well.
Also, members get Numismatist, the monthly magazine.

PS- You can also submit to NGC direct without paying an additional membership fee
A pretty good magazine, submitter's privledges to NGC/NCS, use of the library, a collector voice in Washington, seminars, the museum, a few discounts, shows, and lots of associates.

I renewed my ANA membership just over a month ago when I leearned that they were again getting serious about consumer protection after several years when I thought otherwise.
If you post epithets here or elsewhere online about a third-tier grading service, you may become eligible for the ANA legal defense fund, in case that grading service tries to sue enough ANA members to get the attention of their board of governors. ANA membership fees are cheap insurance against greedy lawyers on either side of the case.
Besides, I missed "The Numismatist".
