Do you think there's SHILL bidding going on here?

LINK

I purchased a coin from this fellow. I'm wondering, after I purchased it I'll add, if this is a SHILL BIDDER, this (wb4coins) person. I've heard of customer satisfaction, but this seems a bit too satisfactory.

I dunno, maybe I'm just whinin'. image

  • Looks like a shill to me. Several pages of solid "befusa" feedbacks.

I don't think that is a shill. Looks like he is satisfied with what he gets, and that quarter you got looks pretty good too.

IMHO, this isn't shill bidding. I've often placed bids like this on something I wanted, but didn't get.

When I think about it, the seller would be losing a helluva lotta greenbacks with this guy winning his auctions if this were indeed the case. Oh well, sorry fer whinin'image

He has feedback from 232 different members. Not a shill, but he sure likes this seller!

I don't know whether it's a shill or not but you really should take a different approach to this. I realize shill bidding is a bad thing and all but sometimes instead of complaining maybe each of us should just make a better effort in our bids. The bottom line is you should ONLY bid on the coin to what you think it's worth. MAX out the bid so that you don't feel screwed if you win nor will you feel bad if you lose. It's a fine line there I realize but if you are comfortable with your bid any shill bidding going on really is irrelevant.

  • It doesn't look like shill to me. Why do you think it may be shill bidding??

NO. However you were your own worst enemy in this auction.

Had you restricted your bidding to your last (snipe) bid you probably would have paid less.

You put in a high bid early on and what the other fellow was trying to do was top your bid as cheaply as possible. The end result of his bidding was that it kept increasing your bid. Had your high bid not been placed, he would have stopped in the low $20's instead of continuing to bid. No guarantee that someone else may not have come along to increase the bid but by you bidding high early you took away the chance to have the underbidder stop bidding at a lower price.

Before you guys go off jumping to conclusions, I recently bought a raw Quarter from befusa. I have not yet received it BUT

I must say I am impressed by his personal email of gratitude for my buying a very nice looking coin at quite an inexpensive price

and his willingness to satisy me in that if it does not meet my expectations ( he checked my Registry set) that not only would he

gladly refund my money but also offered to pay the shipping both ways as well. Seems pretty straight up to me. We shall see.image
  • Russ,
the buyer had over 200 feedback from befusa !

With over 200 eBay final fees to pay, he'd be the most expensive shill in history image

Which is the half of your accusatory post that is essentially correct. You said:

    << <i>237 feedback and more than 200 from one seller ? >>

The bidder has over 700 feedback, 232 of which are from different eBay members. As I said, read more carefully before posting.

    Looks fishy to me:

He has recently only bid on befusa auctions? kinda funny ain't it? he has bid on 133 auctions in the last month.
    link

Your best bet is to use a snipe program and you won't have to worry about that.

The only feedback he has received in the last year has been from befusa

  • Russ,
    i re-read it
    232 positive
    729 positive total
in excess of 200 from befusa.
if it aint a shill (cant imagine anyone that stupid ! you are correct)
why not save befusa a couple hunnys in fees and yourself some shipping and maybe some money ?

You assume I take pleasure in shredding your unfounded accusations.

Let me repeat. This bidder is not a shill. If he is, then why has he won auctions from 232 different sellers? Is this logic too complicated for you to grasp?

With the amount of fraud going on eBay these days, it is not uncommon to find a buyer sticking with one seller who they have had a good experience with. This guy is not a shill but a dedicated customer. Go and look at Heritage's feedback sometime, I've seen bidders on their auctions that have a feedback rating of one, with several hundred positives from Heritage.
