And here's another possible con-job on a Clemente rookie. Seller has zero feedback. High bidder has zero feedback. And check out what else he's selling. A 52B Mantle, Jordan rookie and other choice nuggets.

    It is really a shame. And if you look at other stuff you might think he is legit and just "unloading" a bunch of stuff, and then you realize he takes Western Union......

    I emailed the jordan winning bidder:
    If I were bidding on this item: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=58001&item=4135719420 I would ask for another/better scan. Course I would probably NEVER bid on that item.

    Maybe I'm naive, but he just signed up with ebay one week ago. I wouldn't bid on his stuff,either,but how do you know he's a scam artist? Not crazy about him not taking paypal, but I can't tell for sure if he's legit.

    All you can do is "ask". Like I suggested to the hi bidder. Ask for another scan. Hell If I was spending that much money on a single card I would have the seller scan it with a local newspaper in the background.

    Well, when both the buyer and the apparent high bidder have zero feedback... and he is selling a ton of very expensive cards.... and he takes Western Union but not PayPal (meaning his identity and address are not confirmed by ANYBODY)... all the warning signs are there. A guy with all this stuff to dump at once has never been on eBay before? Uh uh, he is grabbing as many suckers as he can in one shot and then he is GONE.

    One test is to say that you like to travel to pick up your high-end purchases, and pay in person. If he comes up with an excuse or doesn't reply, that's all the proof you need.

    I can tell you exactly how you can find out for certain, although, I think I can already tell for sure. Easiest way is to ask for an additional picture of him holding the card in his hand while he took the picture or scan. With a stolen scan, he can't do it. The reason I think it's questionable is two reasons, first - the background behind the scans/pics is white in two (58Maris, 65Rose), wood table on one (55Clemente), and black behind another (62 Clemente). The second tip off is that the 55 Clemente pic is blurred while the others are crisp. If he had the ability to scan cards, why wouldn't he have scanned all 4 so they would have a uniform appearance? Even though the seller may be new and possibly legit, I would completely avoid their auctions.
