I thought the PCGS slabs were bad enough but now they have a colorized hakf with her face in it? Give me a break.

  • Jessica was very humble. She stated that the guys that gave their lives in her unit were the Heroes. She never uttered a single word to push the Slab.

"A portion of the proceeds from sales of the autographed coins will be donated to the Jessica Lynch Foundation that provides scholarships to the children of military personnel," said Miles Standish, Senior Vice President of PCGS.

Now that they are on HSN I wonder what the portion is.
  • I just emailed hsn.com and told them their coin collectors salesmen are crooks selling different coins for SUCH a rippoff price and they say the coins are the "real" value. Yeah right!!! hooie to them and their dimwits selling coins.
Its a foul ball by a fair margin.

If the public wants them and is willing to pay the price asked I congratulate the sellers for doing an excellent marketing job. As I have said before, it must be great to be able to sell numismatic products without having someone waving a sheet in your face or bad-mouthing your coins.

I think this young lady should also be on a coin.

Pfc. Leslie D. Jackson, 18, of Richmond, Va. KIA Baghdad 20 MAY. She was the youngest female to be killed in action in U.S. history to date.
My heart hangs so very heavy and prayers go to her parents. My daughter just turned 22 and I can't imagine her being gone.

OKAY! Let us examine the initial sale of these coins to be sold. Were the coins donated, PCGS graded for free and shipment out was also absorbed in the initial sale all for charity purposes? What was the selling price to these dealers, speculators or whatever you want to call them? How much money will be given in-all to the Foundation.
Now look at the current sales of these coins on HSN or eBay. Have then been purchased with only profit in mind and no actual proceeds are going out after these sales.
I'm sorry! If initial sales were nationwide by only one dealer working with PCGS, I may consider buying one. It is worse than telemarkets calling for the PBA or local firefighters and first question out of your mouth should be " What percentage of the proceeds do they receive?" It is probably less than 7%!
I give directly to any charitable organization and refuse to be sucked up in these HORSE MANURE!

  • I am not going to divulge you into my opinion on this subject...but here is the bottom line. Jessica Lynch was an American Soldier. She signed up to protect the United States of America and any other country that requires our assistance. She did not do the following: Ask to go to Iraq, Ask to be Ambushed, Ask to be held as a POW, Ask to be tortured, Ask to become labeled as a "Hero". Is she a hero? YES. She is. Whether she went down in a blaze of glory or not, she served her country in a time of war. How many people in the United States can actually stand up and say, I SERVED MY COUNTRY! Not many these days. Yes there are so many more heroes, but lets not blame her for what happened to her. I know that I would personnally not want that much publicity.

Well said Speedracer......this subject has been discussed more than a few times...let's hope people can put it to rest and whine about other things more deserving to whine about.....such as ebay thieves and frauds and how PCGS screwed their submission since they obviously know so much more image

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

  • Thanks.

  • She is a hero. I think that all service men and women fighting in Iraq are heroes and we should be thankful every day for the sacrafices they make to our country.

To commercialize the Jessica Lynch capture and rescue with a cheap coin in a much cheaper piece of plastic is regrettable.

Someone said that she was very humble on HSN and paid tribute to her comrades. I would guess that she is only doing this to raise money for her foundation which will benefit the families of other service men and women.

Ask to go to Irag: She is in the military, 'nuff said
POW: She was at a hospital when they rescued her, no POW here.
Tortured: She was not tortured, she was injured from the attack.
Labled as a hero: Propaganda by the military and media speculating what happened to her, which by the way was incorrect from the get go.

Those guys, like Coin Vault, are also selling proof SAE's for DOUBLE what the mint charges and they charge almost twice the shipping although both ship from the Tennesee. You have to be mentally challenged not to be able to figure out that you can order directly from the Mint on this stuff.

As for colorized, you also have to be aestheically challenged. I have good deals on paintings of matadors and bulls on black velvet for these people.
