Is the toning on this coin to be considered "white cloud" toning? Just curious because I am not sure why it toned like this and there are no scratches on it anywhere I can see.

I personally love the light blue toning in the fields on this one, because it lets the toning in the hair stand out alot. Picked it up from a dealer in Raleigh NC.

It's not toning, it's haze. Some dealers, though, are fond of calling this "patina" in an effort to make it seem desirable.

Thanks for your reply Russ, if I may ask another question:

What causes the haze and what makes it look the sky blue color and topped with the white looking frosty lines?????? I notice it is only on the obverse of the coin. Just trying to learn. Thanks.

In the case of proof coins, this type of haze is frequently caused by the use of vinyl flips. I ran in to this problem when I first started submitting.
