2-Cent Coins

Greetings!
What can anyone tell me about 2-cent coins. The ones I have seem clustered about the 1860s.

    They were minted from 1864 to 1873. In 1873 they only minted proofs.

    Short series, 1864 through 1872 plus 1873 for proofs. First coin to bear the motto In God We Trust. Progressively lower mintages each year, starting with around 20 million for the 1864 and ending with 65,000 for the 1872. Proof mintages each year were very tiny, as low as 100 and as high as 1000. Very cool coins. image

    Great series to collect. The keys are the 1872 and the 1864 Small Motto. They are, in my opinion, an under-appreciated and under-valued series. I'm currently working on a MS-64 registry set and love them. image

    Neat coin, and probably underratted in the higher grades with attractive RB surfaces.

    But as far as lower to middle circulated grades, the two cent coin is one of the toughest for me to re-sell. When I pick them up from time to time, they are difficult to move. Usually when I do sell one, its to a new collector for a type set or even a non-collector who just buys it cause they have never seen one before. The 64 sm motto and the 72 are a little easier to sell due to being key-dates, but still for some reason I do see a big following of theses coins like other series.

    Yes, you're right. Will do. But I do have a few questions that books can't provide, so I'll pester you on those on another thread.
