2-sport athletes in college.....

Hey, can anyone supply more athletes that played 2 sports in college. I can think of a few, anyone add more??

Steve Garvey - Michigan State University Football and Baseball
Kirk Gibson - Michigan State University Football and Baseball
Charlie Ward - Florida State University Basketball and Football

Donovan McNabb played football and basketball at Syracuse ...

Chad Hutchinson was the starting QB and star pitcher at Stanford back in 1996 or 1997 (he was in one of my classes too, and actually worked hard - a true student athlete) ...

Ronald Curry UNC football and basketball (I think the first name is right)
Tony Gonzalez UC football and basketball
Brad Johnson FSU football and basketball
Herschel Walker UG football and track
Matt Blundin UVA football and basketball

I'm sure there are a ton more, that's all I could remember off the top of my head.

not sure on Nomar,
but I know that most of University of Michigans running backs also ran track as well.

I know that Nomar was on the US junior national team but don't recall if he played at GA Tech, I would assume he did.

Bo Jackson played three sports at Auburn (football, baseball and track) and John Elway both played baseball and football at Stanford.

By the way, Dave Winfield (University of Minnesota) played baseball and basketball, but did you know that he was drafted out of college by four teams in three pro sports: the San Diego Padres (MLB), Atlanta Hawks (NBA), Utah Stars (ABA), and Minnesota Vikings (NFL and he never played a down of football college football.)?

Jim Brown played lacrosse, football, basketball, and track at Syracuse. Some argue he was the best lax player ever. I think he was pretty good in football too.

Darin Erstad of the Anaheim Angels was the #1 overall pick in the 1996 (?) amateur draft. He played on the baseball team during his time at Nebraska and also punted for the '95 National Championship team. The story I've heard is that some football coaches spotted Erstad kicking the ball at the indoor practice field and offered him a chance to punt. I think he was one of the better punters in the country the year(s) he was on the team.

Turner Gill played QB for the Nebraska teams of the early-80's. He was also on the baseball team and later played in the CFL and in the Cleveland Indians' minor league system.

Erick Strickland played basketball for Nebraska, and was also a (very) minor league prospect in baseball. He's played in the NBA with Dallas, New York, and Indiana. I don't remember his current team.

I imagine Deion Sanders was playing baseball for FSU or in the minors while also playing CB and KR/PR.

Ricky Williams was in the minor league system for the Expos.

I think Gale Sayers ran track at Kansas, but I'm not sure.

Danny Ainge played for Brigham U. was drafted by Toronto Bluejays and of course the rest is history with respect to Basketball.

Deion never played baseball at FSU. He was playing in the Yankees farm system while playing football for the Seminoles.

Joe Montana was offered a basketball scholarship by NC State, but he turned them down to play football at Notre Dame.

Nomar did play at GT, he was on the same team as Jason Varitek. I heard somewhere Tony Gwynn was an excellent basketball player also.

Right on guy - he was drafted by the Padres and the Clippers (10th rnd) - he was a pretty good point guard at San Diego State but let's just say that he made a wise career choice?

Both Raghib and Qadry Ismail played football and ran track at Notre Dame and Syracuse, respectively.

Jim Thorpe played football, baseball, and lacrosse, I believe, in college, if it was a real college. I seem to recall hearing that his "Indian School" was not really a school.

Gene Conley played pro baseball and basketball. Can't remember if he went to college.

I was a 5-sport intramural star. Flag football, frisbee football, basketball, lacrosse, and Trivial Pursuit. Maybe "star" isn't the right word, but I did play them all.

Thorpe went to Carlisle University, which I believe is an acredited school. Two other notables that come to mind are Jackie Robinson and Dave Debussure.
