Bulk Submission to PCGS

Ok, so it is my understanding from the "cheapest slab" thread, bulk submitters to PCGS get a significant discount.

Does anyone know how you go about doing this?

How many coins do you have to submit?

Any special membership type?

Does anyone know for sure what the cost is for a bulk submittal?

I'd be interested to know the particulars, as well.

  • Ask Marty... I'm not sure if he's done bulk submissions to PCGS, but he's done a couple recently to NGC...

    Hi,
I am not sure but have you tried just calling PCGS to find out? May be quicker/easier then waiting for a reply here. I have heard 100+ is bulk and cost is $8/coin?!?!?

That is correct, but you have to pre-grade your coins yourself. Let's say you send in 200 1955-D Washingtons (your hoping for the MS67). You tell PCGS I want only MS65s and better. You have to make 60% of the coins you send in, if you don't it's $5 per coin for the no grades. If you make the 60% the no grades are no charge.
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

  • I was told by PCGS 100 coin min. 25 coins same date and mint. You can call PCGS and ask for the bulk price.

Combine Marty's response and johnk's response and you have most of the answer. Before you send things in, call the "800" number and ask to speak with the person that handles bulk orders to confirm the info is up-to-date (things change from time to time) and if there are anym other particualrs (e.g., do they prefer it be labeled "Attn: ....").
