Submitters Remorse?

As a followup to my earlier post tonight about receiving grades today I'm wondering if anyone has had slight submitters remorse because:

I worked long and hard to put together a decent set of raw Washington's and used my four free submissions on four of the key dates. Now I've got a Dansco Album with four holes in it that are not easy to fill.

Anyone else ever do this with a set and what did you end up doing? Anyone ever crack the coins back out and replace them in the Album?

It's not that big of a deal but I'm curious what others may have done.

    Oh yeah !

I have a complete raw (AU55-MS64) set of Standing Liberty Quarters in a Dansco album. I cracked open a couple of slabbed coins to fill the set and have often thought that I should not have, but have the balance of the set holdered.

I'm happy with the raw set as it is, and I'm also glad I went on to complete a MS slabbed set as well.

You have a tough decision to make, (if I were you, I'd pick up choice AU raw coins to fill those holes).

I'm in the process of doing that with a Type Set. Get the hammer -- set those coins FREE! (but keep the inserts)

    Thanks for the opinions.

The 32-D & S were only XF45 so they are not too tough to replace. I hadn't planned on replacing them and it's probably not a good time with keys being hot.

I'll probably keep them as is for now and see how I feel after awhile.

  • Ask yourself why you submitted these in the first place. Was it just to get a second opinion? If so, you have it, and you'll still have it if you crack them out. If it was for another reason (protection, increased ease in selling, etc.), think twice before you crack it. Yeah, it's not hard to resubmit them down the road if you wanted, but why pay again for grading fees?
  • I cracked a whole mess of slabs for my Dansco type set and upgrading my Dansco Morgan date set....
I couldn't, however, bring myself crack my 09-S, 09-s VDB, and 14-D cents for my Dansco Lincoln set...they have little cardboard fillers in those holes.
