GSA Soft-packs

What do the soft packs grade, usually. Are they all circulated coins or were some of them UNC.'s just not up to the GSA standards for encapsulation?

Thanks

Gary

Those GSA soft packs can grade from F all the way up to 64 and I'm sure 65. GSAGUY is the answer man for those. I have seen many in fine condition with as many in MS.

    Beartracks42,

In the June 1, 1973 auction, a total of 97,563 coins of mixed dates and mintmarks were offered in the Mixed Circulated category. These were sold for a minimum bid of $5.00 each.

Within the group were approximately 13,000 1878-CC, almost all of which were uncirculated but which showed some evidence of 'tarnish'. These coins were deemed not to meet the GSA's standards for being uncirculated and were therefore sold in this category.

Many other dates and mintmarks are also found in uncirculated condition within this group. Looking at some of these coins, it's difficult to understand the criteria that the GSA sorting staff used to arrive at their placement in this category.
